It's really not a problem if you prepare it properly. The main thing to understand, is that the snails are simply a little chewy protein vehicle for an immense amount of garlic butter, eaten with rich crusty bread and beer/wine/pastis. In reality they're nowhere near as "weird" as raw oysters.

Mini rant, I used to buy canned snails at the supermarket, in the seafood aisle right next to the shellfish for whatever reason, but they're no longer available here. Numerous EU imports are simply gone, and people blamed Le Covid for a while, but that's obviously bullshit now. Society is regressing.>>21091422

i thought they put the kitchen sponge in there or some shitI had jellyfish salad and also braised sea cucumber and fish maw in Taiwan.
The jellyfish was ok, it had an interesting texture that was crunchy and chewy at the same time. It doesn't really taste like anything on its own though, and I'm not really a fan of the salad "dressing" of soy sauce, sesame oil, and chilis.
The sea cucumber was pretty gross, I couldn't eat all of it. It was a sort of jello like texture. The fish maw parts were pretty good though, it had a soft texture more like rendered fat.>>21096589

The first time I went to an Ethiopian restaurant.

I like smooth tripe. Honeycomb tripe not so much, especially not the two ways it's traditionally made where I'm from
Way 1: boiled to fuck and back for 37 years then drained, cooled and dressed with garlic citronette and parsley.
Way 2: stewed in tomato sauce (less bad, but still not great)

I've been there thrice, admittedly two were business trips. Didn't get to eat anything good on those trips, strangely. Everything tasted artificial. My company put me in first class without my asking, that was the only good food I had on those trips. The third time was going on holiday there, I did a few places. By and large the food ranged from decent to great. Although I got a strange fever one time.
