Do whiskey companies have a valid reason for releasing whiskeys under 100 proof (no) or are they just ripping off the consumer by doing so (yes)? Why do high-rye bourbons taste so much better than other bourbons? What is the optimal cork type for whiskey, and why is it a BIG WHITE CORK?>>21403755 STOP and EXPLAIN to me why drinking JACK DANIEL's GENTLEMAN JACK is a bad whisky.>>21403762 >80 proof Into the trash it goes. >double mellowed So, double boringed.>>21403791 But I like it, even more than some meme good whiskeys. Pour everything else down the toilet where it belongs>>21403819 >four roses single malt u wot m8>>21403823 I'm thinking about buying a bottle of ardbeg uigedail, but the price point is high. Is it worth $95?>>21403823 I only care about studies and evidence. Unless you demonstrate that a particular whiskey is better in a statistically significant way compared to others in a blind taste test which is adequately powered, then I think your gay whiskey is as good as a Red Label. All wines are the same as proven beyond reasonable doubt in blind taste tests, and likely the same holds true for whiskey. You just buy into gay buzzwords ("single malt", "heavily peated"). Literal "it's toasted" marketing slop.>>21403834 >All wines are the same Yes, a Riesling is totally the same as a 20 year Tawny Porto. Baka.>>21403840 >Yes, a Riesling is totally the same as a 20 year Tawny Porto. Expert wine tasters cannot tell the difference between a $2k wine and a $18 wine. Why would whiskey be different? Explain it to me if you're so smart.

POST YOUR FAVORITE LOCAL BRAND>>21403854 It is literally exactly the same. If I put you and 1000 other idiots in a blind taste test, you wouldn't be able to tell the difference.>>21403866 >a light white wine is exactly the same as a heavy, rich fortified red wine Ah, I see you are a complete idiot whose opinion can be safely disregarded. gg nr>>21403870 >I see you are a complete idiot whose opinion can be safely disregarded This was obvious from his first post, which I didn’t even bother replying to>>21403834 There are different styles of whiskey just like there are different styles of wine. A bourbon tastes different than a scotch. And within that, a peated scotch is going to taste different than a non-peated scotch which will taste different depending on how much sherry influence it has, etc.. But once you get past those broader styles you do get diminishing returns of difference IMO. Drink whatever you like, however you like it. Also Red Label is a perfectly fine scotch. When distilling your own liquor, should it come out high proof or do you have to distill it several times?>>21404411 >There are different styles of whiskey just like there are different styles of wine.
