I'm not a modder, so maybe this is a dumb question, but why wouldn't it be possible to spawn a giant woman in the game and have her do whatever? The game's engine already handles collision and destruction physics and effects, so all you'd have to do is spawn objects in the game. People have already made mods to spawn stuff like whales in the game.

Not a developer, just dabbled in it for fun, plus done a decent amount of modding.

As an example, character walk, run etc animations are rarely driven directly by the character's speed outside if things like "if player speed < 50 then do walk animation". Instead, often, a walk animation just happens to line up neatly with how fast the character moves. Similarly the speed isn't driven by player scale. It's just set to some parameter. Things unravel quickly the more animation states you have.

The camera may be parented to the character rig at some distance away from the root, like x = -5 units. Won't move if the character changes size, and any coded behavior will also just not work well for you anymore.

IK rigs for feet and hands will break.

These are pretty basic, and if you told a game developer to make a big lady from scratch in a new game, then it wouldn't be difficult.

But the game is already built. The parameters and things you need to adjust aren't always available to you, rarely even. And even then, an entire game has already been built around those very basic elements of the character component. You scale up the character, and a lot of other things will break or no longer line up because the game was never built with consideration for that.

And then there's all the other stuff. Effects, triggers, physics, collision.. so many things to break in different ways, I could go on forever.

I'd guess so. I think of the x-rays I've seen of feet in heels. Foot configured like that, I'd fall flat on my face.
