hinting, maybe? i get you, though. still, sometimes you also should consider what's fun for different people. like, i don't care at all for crunching the numbers when it comes to stuff like minmaxing your stats, but there's guys who absolutely love it. i would argue that there'll always be a best way to skill your character, so it's pointless to have that many variable in a character progression, because most people will just google which is best and use that, but that would deprive those number-crunchers of their fun descovering it. as someone who doesn't care, i can just wait a week or two and then see what those guys came up with. same for lore, there's people who love digging into at at finding all the hidden details and putting them together, so even if you have everything written out and know how it actually is, sometimes holding that back or confirming it way after the fact is way more satisfying for that crowd.

i was just referring to the actual gameplay, where you can't take in the scenery for a bit until some side character starts telling you to go over there and do that. in the end, all kind of storytelling has it's time and place. everything can be executed well if you know what tool to use, when and how.

i think i know what you mean, but there's red herrings and then there's simply lying to your audience and going "nuh-uh!" at the end. if you purposefully misdirect there also must be the chance for at least the most perceptive of your audience to figure it out. if i can't trust you, there's no point in paying attention.>>78740368

i guess so, but it can be nice to turn the intensity down a bit just to see how far you've come and actually enjoy your gains for a change instead of pushing harder and harder every time.

job pays like dogshit so nobody wants to do it anymore and nobody here knows which cuts are actually good, so everyone just orders and eats the same stuff over and over. it's a shame. maybe you'll have some hipster in a big city open a novelty-butchery or whatever you want to call it, but even that's rare. germans like to pretend to care about the quality of their food, but in the end everyone just buys the cheapest garbage they can find.
