This isn't really a new concept, if you look at older series like Ah! My Goddess! Loser guy is surrounded with beautiful women who all want him despite being short, weak, insecure, etc. Now you see this formula, but dialed up to 11

I liked Devilman a lot, which features a very weak boy, who despite his weakness, is willing to stand up against really terrible people in order to keep safe something as inconsequential as a pet bunny. Then as the story progresses, he receives the power to bury all the evils of the story, which also in turn begins to change him. He goes from a physically weak and timid boy, to the ultimate cool and confident guy you could only hope to ever be. His weakness isn't glorified, it is erased and replaced as he grows stronger. What remains of his old self is his heart that cannot stand to see innocent things harmed and it is that heart which allows him to control the demonic power he has, which otherwise would have overtaken him immediately>>203316298
