Description

Abstract:

el-ement's tutorial on fluid simulations uses Stage3D shaders in order to simulate Stable Fluids (Jos Stam, 1999) for real time fluids. I wanted to adapt this to my own engine in order to get a concrete pipeline down in order to use the GPU for crunching math and simulations that I can use for later.

Controls:

  • 1 Shows default
  • 2 Shows velocity texture (where the liquid is moving)
  • 3 Shows distortion (the movement of the liquid)

  • R Reset
  • C Toggles between checkboard layout (same as el-ements blog posting) vs the red and black pattern
  • D Toggles dithering
  • G Toggles glow when the liquid is moving

  • [ and ] will increase or decrease the viscosity of the liquid
  • - and + will increase or decrease the stir strength

  • O Toggles obstacles
  • E Toggles a smoke stack going from bottom to top
  • W Toggles top half to move right and bottom half to move left
  • S Toggles 3 dots on the left that will give off liquid

Used Claude for understanding the Navier Stroke equation in simple terms (the original blog post was in Japanese) and optimization passes to see if I missed anything. I dont care i just wanna make flash demos with cool shit
