Many years ago, when I first started releasing animated cartoons on the internet, I released a video that was fifteen seconds of animation and thirty-three seconds of credits sequence. The reaction to that was pretty understandable looking back.

This animation would end up being something similar. So I thought to make the credits something visually interesting. Instead of copying the dull, repetitive credits sequence from ten years ago, this time I added a colorful background, some nice and somber music, and an opportunity for me to answer the question “What would the OneyPlayscrew do if they were in the vastness of outer space?”

The client wanted the intro and outro to be generic so that it could be used in future OneyPlays Animated projects and not feel out of place. It took a while to come up with something visually interesting while still being generic. I was inspired by the Goof Troop title sequence with the logo and the main characters in front of a blue background. I added halftone to make it a bit more visually interesting and noise to help cover up color banding.

Originally, Ding Dong and Julian were going to be dressed in their normal clothes (or lack thereof), but I thought to double down on the stage performance angle and wanted to deck them out with showman outfits. The first thing I thought of was @egoraptor’s character from Malkovich’s Gaming Game Show by JonTron. That video was not something I had thought of probably since 2011, but for some reason the thought of Arin in drag was so vivid.
