Angel is a war robot who got assimilated by Erus and Briseis, giving him a newfound interest on researching the world instead of manufacturing war equipment.

When you first meet him he's upbeat and silly, a little fruity even; he offers you quests to help him in exchange for crafting recipes.

But the more you interact with him the more he seems upset by something and at a certain point (quest 10) he straight up pins you to a wall and forces you to take on a quest for him.
