so... it's been a while, hasn't it?

a whole 10 years!!!!! this game means so much to me. Where do I even begin with this? Back in July, Toby fox posted an echo flower tweet that asked, "what does UNDERTALE mean to you?" After responding to the website, suddenly I realized I had to lock the heck in. Two months before the 10th anniversary of the most influential thing in my life? Anyway, here we are now. It would’ve been a disservice not to work so hard on something that’s meant so much to me for so long. This is something I made for both the creators of Undertale and myself, so it’s um,, pretty personal to me! I’ve animated before, but this time I really feel like I gave it my all! A story about staying strong and having meaning, and it ends up having so much meaning to me too? That definitely makes sense, right? I’m always pretty nervous about my art, and my writing especially - but this one I feel like I’ve genuinely done my best, and my best is awesome :D. The whole process just felt... so important to me. I hope that shows through. I really tried to add as many details as I could, but you know how a deadline is...

My main goal for this animation was really to just show all the meaningful parts of the original Undertale that really led me through my life. There are so many awesome parts of Undertale, and for this film I tried to focus on the hard-hitting moments. Though there are a few scenes in here that kind of stray away from the main game... I think that’s okay! I maybe worded it best in my little echo flower blurb at the end.

In last minute crunching, my friend Joby Grant helped with the layout of scene 17 with Undyne highballing Alphys straight into the trash. I laughed at this art for like 20 minutes straight.

It's a field full of memories.

Thousands of them have sprouted in the marsh.

Each an echo of a moment held close.

Hopes and dreams

Wishes so concentrated they glow, and float up above

Crystalizing on the roof of the mountain.

We wished for stars and they became our own

They reach for the sky as much as us.

We do wish for an angel,

Some sort of all encompassing solution.

A salvation that's easy

But what we do have now thats stronger?

Our LOVE

Our friendships

Our happiness

Our hope.

Here we have each other.

What could be better than that?

If we were to look back,

We'd find each other

In ourselves.

Isn't that wonderful?

So stay strong,

Stay determined.
