RATBASTERDZ: WADE'S SONG

The 40th anniversary of Super Mario Bros. animated!

This animation is a sequel to my very first hand-drawn animation. This time around, I used a Huion drawing tablet instead of drawing with purely a mouse. The quality is quite a bit different . . . maybe I'll need to remake the first at some point . . . Check out the original animation here, if you haven't seen it yet: <a href="https://youtu.be/2xDUeHmDdMI" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Super Mario Over the Years! 1</a> - Unfortunately, you'll have to watch it on YT because I didn't have a NG account back then :( Isn't it technically the 41st now of Super Mario Bros?: Lol, yes - this project is a culmination of short vids I've been putting out during the 40th anniversary across my socials, plus a bunch more! I still wanted to call this an animation for the 40th, as it's the bigger milestone year than the 41st. I also just work slowly, and had a bunch of ideas, causing the release time to continuously get pushed back. Art Direction I've had the thought for quite some time to make a more faithful animation to the Mario series to emulate and honor the stylistic choices of Yōichi Kotabe and Shigehisa Nakaue. My decision on the art direction also came down to me wanting to "understand the generations of Mario” from its official art standpoint. Furthermore, I wanted to embellish some of Mario's movements, not limited to the games, to give a greater sense of action and adventure! I referenced all types of official cover art, licensed activity books, instruction manuals, classic 80s/90s commercials and other promotional material for the games and time periods. It took way more effort than my past simpler, often rough character animations - but it was totally worth it! For later games in the franchise, including games like Super Mario 64 and Super Mario Odyssey Characters, I choose to fuse the official render designs with the linework used in the manual art in the earlier games. I wanted the animation to have the hand drawn feel, but still have the evolution of Mario's design aimed to hit several of the "key poses" from the Super Mario Bros official art, and “bring them to life” in the animation. In order to execute this idea, I started with several of the key frames as these key poses, with some adjustments (like eye movements, hand placements, or perspective tweaks) to flow with the animation. As far as the backgrounds go, they involve a stylistic approach to Shigehisa Nakaue's work on the fairly consistent Nintendo summer artwork. I tried to simulate this by blending some watercolor texture scans I painted with digital watercolor brushes created in Photoshop to create laying and show a brush stroke on a more rough, coarse paper. The color usage references the internal colors displayed when playing the games on their respective consoles. This challenged me when it came to using a very monochromatic color scheme in Super Mario Land's Birabuto dungeon to quite the opposite of using a wide array of color in Mario's character animation in the Super Mario Odyssey segment. Easter Eggs Woah, you actually read up to this point? Okay, well, I'll let you in on a little secret: this animation is jam packed with a ton of hidden secrets/collectables. Try to spot the following: <ul><li>Bosses and/or friendly side characters from each game</li><li>References to different Nintendo game console generations</li><li>5 cherries to give you "invincibility"</li><li>2 wonder seeds for a "sense of curiosity"</li><li>Franchise game/console codenames</li><li>A bunch of coins. Count all of them if you dare and they may reveal some meaningful Mario number lol . . . The following are variations of coins and values associated with them (does their final value mean anything?):</li></ul>⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀◦ Regular/Gold Coin - Simply 1 Coin⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀◦ Red Coin (SM64) - 1 Red Coin = 2 Coins⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀◦ Blue Coin (SM64) - 1 Blue Coin = 5 Coins⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀◦ Purple Regional Coin (SMO) - 1 Regional Coin = 2 Coins Credits Music in chronological order:0:00 ~ Super Mario Bros 2. - Ground Theme ~ Super Smash Bros. Bluey in the 80s Movie Trailer

🟢 "Animation." The early morning sun glistened over the ruined coastline, casting golden light across the broken remnants of a once-thriving boardwalk. Now, it was a peaceful training ground. Sawsan Vix, a sleek, mute mutant fox girl, stretched on the sand with perfect precision. Her sporty, skin-tight workout gear clung to her fur, designed for flexibility and speed. Each movement was fluid—controlled kicks, deep lunges, and sharp flips that kicked up clouds of sand. Strapped to her waist was a patched-up cassette player, humming with life. “Take on meee… take me onnn…” The warm fuzz of 80s synth filled her ears through oversized headphones—one of the few gifts she ever received, and from someone who somehow always made her tail flick: Baskal, the gruff, scarred human bounty hunter. He found the tape in a forgotten music store buried beneath rubble and dust, wrapped it with some wire, and gave it to her without much ceremony. She'd smiled—not that he saw. Now, every beat made her bounce a little more as she jogged along the shore. She stopped, posed like she was in a cheesy dance workout video, and struck a thumbs-up toward the ruins behind her, just in case Baskal was watching from the cliffs. Her sharp eyes sparkled with a hint of mischief. No words. Just music, motion, and the sound of waves. In the silence of a broken world, Sawsan Vix made her own rhythm. 🌟 Check out my active sites: <a href="https://beacons.ai/nafyo" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">https://beacons.ai/nafyo</a>

This project is a re imagination of my <a href="https://www.newgrounds.com/portal/view/958435">"RE 3rd Maiden 9:20min"</a> entry scene .Ironically , the whole idea came from the og 1-3 RE games (wallbreaking hands) and a horror movie I saw as a child 30 years ago (80s EU horror movie). Sometimes an artist gotta connect loose ends . I bet many of us saw horror movies back then as a child which they were to young to understand. Generally the "monster" part in horror movies declined and lots of movies focus on psycho horror. Animating multiple hands was no easy task. Holding while maintaining correct gravity is a lesson I should reconsider next time before animating .Sometimes gravity is lowkey the 3rd player in a project ,other than just doing penetration animations with 1 force and receiver on the spotlight. This project was kind of a new thing to me .

My entire thought process behind this being a thing was simply "what if Tankmen, but in squigglevision?" Anyways, happy (early) 20th to this beautifully immature series and its referentially 80s nature. Runtime is 1:22Enjoy! Elden Ring 80’s Saturday Morning Cartoon

Synopsis: Mike is a boy who's been having the same nightmares regarding the disappearance of his parents and a mysterious object. He wants to get rid of his nightmares with a dreamcatcher he found in his closet, only he finds out that its no ordinary DreamCatcher. So doing a whole 20-30 min animation is alot of work so I've been doing this one episode in parts (scenes that i finish) until it gets to the end of my script. I think after this, instead of adding it to the end of the last parts I'll just upload the part itself until i get to the end of the script and thenput it all together. So if some stuff dont make sense its only a portion of the script. Please forgive me, my planning sucks 🫠 This is supposed to be a project reminiscent to stuff in the 80s/90s. -----------------‐-------------------------------------- I'd like to apologize for a particular scene where the background is still moving even though the character had stopped, was crunching a deadline for myself and overlooked that part without realizing until last minute and was just like "oh well". Lol It's a One-Woman-Show here with the animations/editing/Sounds, but this project is nothing without the Voice Actors/Actresses so please check them out too, They're awesome! DreamCatcher Part 2

I had fun doing this animation. Last Animation of 2025! The audio I got is from a random meme from Instagram. I just imagine this being during the time Marie needs to get a sword for her nutcracker from her brother, meanwhile her brother is trying to read his volume of comics. [Oh yeah, just a heads up, my nutcracker adaptation takes place during the early 70s to early 80s- so the time period of this animation is around possibly 1972 to 1973] HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

Can a herbivore dinosaur and a carnivore dinosaur live a happy married life?

Can a carnivore dinosaur like an Alioramus and a herbivore dinosaur like an Apatosaurus live a happy married life? What will the other carnivores and herbivores think? This actually took me nearly three years to make, because I had other projects to do, and some real life events like visiting England more frequently because of my new nephew, and having some computer problems back in 2023-2024. It was originally suppose to be a wedding present for my cousin whom back in 2022 was married. I even got them to voice in this short as the bride and groom. It's also a bit of a unique take on the Romeo and Juliet story. Contrary to popular belief, there are some people who are indeed vegetarian or vegan who have married other people of different diets, including meat eaters, and are living a good life. I remember watching Life of Pi, Pi's dad eats lamb while his mom is a vegetarian. There's a woman in her 80s, yet looks like she's in her 30s and 40s, she use to have a husband, whom I believe was meat eater until his death, or maybe he converted. Nevertheless, they were married for over 60 years. Special thanks to my cousins, their spouses and my sister and her boyfriend for being the voice of all the OC dinosaurs, while I provide the voices of the Skylanders, Chopper, Food Fight, Trigger Happy and Gill Grunt. Also, I have reach 66,000 subscribers on Youtube. If you times that by 1000, you'll get the exact time the dinosaurs got wiped out from the meteorite.

A Tribute to the American Spirit! Lustgard Animation - nr.15 - 2024 Man you folks sure know how to throw a party.I’m thrilled to share my latest animation, Njorijanna takes center stage once again, standing proudly on the trunk of a Cybertruck, as the summer breeze sweeps through her hair, (outside my window, there is snow...)This piece is a heartfelt homage to the American spirit, a force that has inspired me deeply throughout my life.Growing up in Norway in the late 80s, my childhood was profoundly shaped by Western culture. From the Amiga and supersoakers to unforgettable 90s movies, computer magazines, iconic music, and even commercials/ads—everything about it felt larger than life. It left a lasting impression, one I’m still grateful for today. I even owned a third gen Camaro, living a little piece of that dream. This animation also celebrates a moment of optimism for the USA, a country I believe has the potential to restore itself to its former glory. While I can’t afford a Cybertruck (yet!), I built one in 3D for this project, partly as a nod to Elon and the platform he owns Twitter/X, where so many of you came to know Lustgard.I hope this piece resonates as a celebration of resilience, freedom, and the enduring influence of a country that has its flaws but remains a source of inspiration. Thank you, brothers and sisters from across the pond, for everything you’ve given me. Here’s to better days ahead! A special thank you to YNArts3D for the incredible M60 model, to my brother for playing a beautiful rendition of the Star-Spangled Banner on his guitar, and to Ray, Hal, Walt and Monty for expertly mixing the sound and foley effects. Your contributions brought another level this animation, and I couldn’t have done that part without you! Disclaimer from the Sound Team.Hal, Ray, Walt, and Monty—the brilliant minds behind the sound design—want it noted that they do not endorse the use of the iconic screech attributed to the American bald eagle in this video. As loyal supporters of the American Birding Association, they feel obligated to point out that the sound used is, in fact, from a red-tailed hawk. While they acknowledge it was chosen purely for its iconic status, they insist on making it clear that they objected to this bird-based creative liberty. Rest assured, any inaccuracies here are purely for entertainment value (and a little wink to tradition). - Alluringsteed

Official Cat's Eye parody I solo-animated in sponsorship with Zenless Zone Zero

This was an officially sponsored animation I was commissioned to animate for Hoyoverse for their mobile game Zenless Zone Zero. A runtime of 1 minute, it took 4 weeks from storyboards to final composite. The pitch given was an homage to those classic 80s TMS anime like Cat's Eye. It was my first time working within a really restrictive deadline and I tried my best to cram as much personality and action into one minute.
