I originally planned on something a lot smaller but the thumbnails I drew up were too hot and I needed to animate all of them XD I decided to challenge myself to get all the animation done within September and I actually managed to land that crazy schedule. I learned a lot about how best to schedule and manage my time during this project. The hardest part for me is often starting breaking up the project into small chunks with hard deadlines helped by continuing to push me forward and stick to the schedule. It's been a while since I've done my own VA work so hopefully its not terrible XD Nyx seemed to like it so I'm sure its at least half decent. I hadn't really planned on having a Male VA from the start but it felt like something was missing when I was putting together the edit and I didn't have time to do casting for it. The good news is we ended up with some additional dialogue between the two that I think helps tie the scenes together and keep the pacing moving. I also realized a bit too late that I happened to use the same music track that I did in Sinner and a Show XD oh well! Its a nice track, I like it, but I'll try to be more mindful of it or coordinate some custom music for larger projects in the future. There are a few things I'd probably go back and do differently now but overall I'm really happy with how the project turned out. I particularly love bounce in the side view shot and shot choice for the climax shots. One thing I want to play around with in the future is post processing. I'm currently I'm doing pretty much everything in CSP and it became very apparent that I need to figure out a better solution for future projects XD It was weirdly difficult to keep lighting consistent throughout this one and even now there's still some shots that might be a little off. There are so many things I want to study up on now like lighting, color, rendering, and I've certainly noticed some weak spots in my anatomy knowledge too that I need to brush up on. I'll save all that for the future though, until then enjoy the Saki seggs!

This is owned by Explosm Entertainment, but I drew and animated everything here! This is an animatic, not the final animation, but if you're interested in how it turned out, click here to watch The World's Greatest Detective on YouTube! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=swKymZSTUJk This one felt like a strong return to form. Because it was a little bit longer in length, I was allotted more time on it, and I decided to really up and push for more detail and smoother acting. I encountered a few challenges with the wide, full shot of all of the suspects- not only in fitting them in the enclosed width of a train car, but also to be careful not to over-act with them, because that many characters, all in custom, period-clothing doing a bunch of wacky motions and turns and stuff could raise the cost of the short. So I went as economical as possible with crowd shots. Once again, it was really therapeutic drawing slow-motion, hyper detailed still props like the knife and the brooch, and I loved playing with the acting on the Detective. Once again, I play the voice of a cop at the end (I seem to be cast as cops and dads a lot for them), and I was really pleased with how this team kicked so much ass on this one!
