Grindcove Ep 4 Big Feelings

A "modern" spin on the 1996 Donkey Kong 64 rap opening.

By trial and error, I found out Super Mario 3D Word’s Fort Fire Bros. theme goes surprisingly well with the Donkey 64 DK Rap . . . once it has been sped up a little. I always felt like the Fort Fire Bros. beat was pretty good to go with some lyrics back when I first played 3D World around a decade ago now? (Wow!) The beginning of Fort Fire Bros. reminds me slightly of Donkey Kong Country's (Super Donkey Kong's) "Island Swing," which is played in the first level of the game. Just like “Island Swing”, Fort Fire Bros, slowly builds as more instruments join into the song and eventually reaches a strong climax where the instruments all break loose. Fort Fire Bros also has some similar rhythms to "Island Swing" making it also feel fitting to mix it with. On top of Fort Fire Bros and the rap tracks, I ended up also mixing Piranha Creeper Creek on top of it as well for some extra "jungle" groove - which may be slightly overkill! Besides the soundtrack for this animation, I had attempted to animate the more "current" generation of the DK Crew. DKC: Tropical Freeze also came out over a decade ago? (What!? Where is DK?) The other Kong in DK64 have sadly been out of the spotlight since Rare was bought in the early 2000s, likely due to them being characters they created :( Sad enough to say, I felt like it made sense to replace them with the most recent recurring characters, Dixie & Funky. Although Tiny, Lanky, and Chunky will not be forgotten! I consider the designs of the DK Crew, Kremlings, and other minor characters to be a more simple, stylized version from their gaming representations. DK in particular, I honed more in on the 1981 Donkey Kong arcade's design for some of DK's face while the rest is most similar to DKC's design. As far as the style of the animation goes, I tried to stress fluid transitions between scenes - if you watch the whole animation through (or even loop it), you will notice there are no cuts. Furthermore, I incorporated a lot of DKC’s platforming design elements in the animation - silhouettes, platforming layers, and vibrant jungle backgrounds full of life. Despite the Super Mario Bros. Movie coming out this year and having the DK Rap song in it was not directly inspired from that - as I had already been working on this prior. However it may have motivated me to complete this a little sooner, believe it or not, haha. Diddy Kong and Funky Kong also released in the Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Course Pack Wave 6 a week prior to this animation being completed, but all in all the DK series has been pretty quiet. Completionists/scavenger hunt seekers: Because DK64 is one of the biggest Collect-a-Thon games, if not the largest out of any game, I decided to hide a bunch of DK themed collectables / items / animals from the games. Here is a list of what you can find if you want to “101% this animation”:‣ KONG letters (in order of the animation)‣ 9 puzzle pieces + one extra puzzle-looking item from some other special Rare game‣ All of the animal buddies in “Donkey Kong Country” titled games‣ DK Coin‣ Kremkoin‣ Banana CoinGood luck hunting for them all! Resident Evil - Mission-Scaled Standing Ovation Part 3

First day on the job? Dealing with the mob? At least your boss isn't a slob.

@PukeBomb presents their short film debut...EVERYTHING MUST GOJack Brandt, an unemployed early 30s “bachelor,” is putting in a whopping 56% effort to land any possible position he can get his grubby fingers on. Although he leaves room for improvement, Jack meanders his way across town searching for jobs before stumbling over his own unlaced shoes and a “helpe wontid” sign in front of a dilapidated store front. Haphazardly shuffling inside, Jack was not ready for the marvelous misadventures on which he was soon to embark. Following a series of inexplicable sounds, Jack encounters what one can only describe as the physical embodiment of rotting meat and left-on-the-counter cream cheese, Mark Pimento. He's the kind of guy that could possibly be working for the mob whilst also predicting your future. You know that one uncle of yours that shows up with a stained shirt and unkempt hair right at the most in-opportune time for a "quick visit?" Yeah, that's Mark. Unreasonably sweaty, oozing a questionable fragrance of fast food delicacies, this mythical “salesman” offers countless wares to his loyal, yet displaced customers. Marky Mark acts as the CEO of Pimento Planet™, a thrift-like store that offers luxury washing machine alcoves, -568.56 °R circumscribed cooling, ancient antiquities, and edible arrangements such as off-brand ice pops. Do me a favor: think of one item you definitely do not need right now, nor will you ever require said item. Okay, you good? Yeah, Pimento Planet™ has 40 of them in stock. Our love-able, wide-mouthed dope of a shopkeeper proudly represents a long line of Pimentos before him, continuing their seemingly endless hoarding legacies. Not all is well, however, as Mark is having it "up-to-here" in dealing with expectations from his "sponsors," the nefarious Maf-AI. Perhaps a break from this endless cycle of trash is in the midst. The Maf-AI are a rough-and-rowdy rag-tag group of artificially intelligent mobsters viciously scaling the chain of power to soon control all facets of our earthly plain. As their leader is VERY displeased with Mark's recent transgressions, a gaggle of their top goons are contracted to target Mark in the hopes of clearing their path towards destruction. Unfortunately for Mark, he's a bit busy giving an expansive tour of the Pimento Planet™ facility to realize what his "future" holds. Many questions still remain. Who is Psychic Bob? Why haven't I heard of that unreleased vinyl record? Who needs that many socks? But, most importantly: Will Mark slip further into his biologically destined downward spiral, or burst out from the flames of failure? Oh, and whose dog is that? 2nd Place Winner in Live Action Jam 2023 CASTMark Pimento - Graeme Barrett (AudioOpera)Jack Brandt - DNSLMafAI Boss - Nick SennyMafAI Goons - VoicesByCorey / JoshDytonVO / Nick SennyNews Anchor - NattosumiMeatloaf - Cyclone BreitmayerJeremy Clarkson - NattosumiRichard Hammond - Nick SennyJerry Socks - Bro-sonPsychic Bob Voice - Nick SennyLive Action Psychic Bob - Bro-sonMark Pimento’s Sultry Mouth - Nick SennyLive Action Mark Pimento - Nick Rahm / Hayden GrahamLive Action Jack Brandt - Nick Senny ANIMATIONPimento Animation - Nick SennyJack Animation - NattosumiTop Gear Animation - SepticSebiJerry Socks Animation - Bro-son3D Animation - Bro-son BACKGROUNDSNick SennyNattosumi EDITING / SOUND DESIGNNick Senny MUSIC"Dispose Me" - BUFFOUT"Road Rage Symphony" - Cyclone Breitmayer"Bad Whether - Green Sky Mix" - Nobey One"Fantajoyeux" - Pillowinde FOOTAGELive Action Jack Brandt - Nick SennyLive Action Mark Pimento - Nattosumi / Bro-sonPsychic Bob - Bro-sonMark V Vehicle - autoalfred In Loving Memory of Meatloaf & Dixie You can support PukeBomb on Patreon to become a "PukePatron" or "PukePal."We supply behind the scenes images / videos / concepts / updates of our works in progress. The "PukePatron" tier gets you the above posts and a thank you in the video description, but update to be a "PukePal" and be forever etched in history within the actual video's credits.
