Please consider supporting me! Be sure to subscribe and hit the bell so you don't miss a cartoon! LOVE YOU Time for Episode 3! In the past episode, I touched on how I felt like Kal was a potentially flat character. I felt making Episode 2 that I shouldn't ever write a character I'm not excited to animate or design a cool performance for. Upon finishing said episode I began work on Episode 3 and felt Clair, the Keeper of Visions would fall into the same category; So I completely rewrote her. In my script she was originally entirely different. An old 'shaman-esc' lady. I went to design her visually and decided she wasn't interesting, and I caught myself beginning to phone it in with her development. I stopped and rewrote the character, and I think I ended up with someone much more loveable. I had a blast developing Claire and animating her. Super Turbo Power Punch MAXED is a feature that's being broken up into episodes. Which I am beginning to learn was a stupid decision. The writing has been paced to be watched as a whole. But now I have back-to-back episodes (2 and 3) with NO action and NO tetherball. This result bugs me. Moving forward with my next series my philosophy will be evolving from "a feature being split into episode" to "An episodic series that will be combined into a feature." I think this change will make me much more satisfied with the process of releasing smaller contained videos. As I felt with this episode that I was trying to "just get through this one" so I can work on the next sequence I'm excited for. I plan to get this right at the writing stage as I develop my next series. There's lots I can say about this episode. But honestly almost every aspect falls into the category of how I felt about Kal as a character. The colors, the contrast, the lack of action, the exposition, are all lows from that of Episode 2. I believe this all can be fixed in the sense of how I feel about my philosophy of "not writing things I don't want to animate.." Another psych change I plan on making for the next series. Departing from what I DON'T like, I really love the interaction between Claire and Damian after Kal begins his vision. I love their little conversation as they get a bit more 'real.' I ALSO like Damian's philosophy toward the beginning about how Kal presents himself. Encouraging him to break out of his shell and commit to what he thinks is cool is something I really enjoy. I think that's about all I have to say about Episode 3. I'm REALLY stoked for some of the action I have planned for Episode 4. See you there! Super Turbo Power Punch MAXED | Episode 3

Thanks for watching my independent animation! Please consider supporting me! Be sure to subscribe and hit the bell so you don't miss a cartoon! LOVE YOU (I've decided to start chatting about my work in the description moving forward. Have a read if you're interested in my process!) vv Well Episode 2 is here. This is easily my favorite piece of art I've ever created. I had a really good time adding some action shots to an otherwise action-less episode of my work. I really love this high contrast pallet. The crazy bright characters turned out sooo good on the dark corporeal realm court room. I certainly intend to write a script that capitalizes on these sort of visuals for my next project. In this episode we meet Katie Spring. Man did Corgan ever demolish this performance. It was so fun watching her bring Katie to life. The performance is so energetic that it motivated me to do all her over-the-top expressions. originally she wasn't going to be on screen when telling Kal about the Keepers. But the performance was just too good to not have her on the screen. I've tried to not dump a huge amount of exposition in my work. It has sadly led to a lack of understanding from the audience. So in this episode I tried to lay out a lot of what's going on, in addition to preserving some mystery. I have begun writing the script for my NEXT project after STPPM is complete. This storywriting problem is the number one priority moving forward with said script. While I love this episode, I want the exposition and action to be more intertwined moving forward. I got to voice Damian, the Keeper of Radness. This is one of my favorite performances ever. Damian is so fun to perform,. I feel more attached to him than I do playing Kal. I fear Kal is a flat lead character. Which leads me to not be super stoked on the performance, or animation. This is a problem I plan to eradicate when moving on to the next series. I do like Kal. He will be much more meaningfully interesting towards the back end of STPPM. But I simply feel hes outshined by Katie and Damian. I'm excited to write new characters with these self-critiques in mind. I think that's all I have to say about Episode 2 for now. I had so much fun with it. The colors being the big winner, But the performances, stepped animation, and shot composition were all such amazing highlights. Can't wait to for more animation soon! Kagemusha Chapter 1

A cat wakes up surrounded by water and must learn to survive.

A cat wakes up surrounded by water and must learn to survive. This has been my passion project for the last year an a half. It started as vague ideas of a cat, ocean and overcoming fear. Then through numerous battles with the script it shaped up to something similar you can see now. After seven drafts I felt that it was ready to start storyboarding, but the film kept evolving all the way until the sound mix was done. I kept learning about filmmaking everyday, going through all of the different processes.
I chose the cat as the main character mainly to save time with exposition, because people know that generally cats are afraid of water. So I could just jump right into action. Plus cat is a fairly small creature and the ocean seems even bigger to him. And of course cats are much easier to draw than humans.
The music is by my friend Bertrams Pauls Purviskis who helped a great deal to tell the story the way it was intended. Music had a lot of to convey in very little time and it came out much better than I could have ever expected.
I have been delaying the release for quite some time, because as I learned by making it, a lot of mistakes made earlier when I did not have the experience had to be remade from scratch. I am glad it is finally done and I can show it to the world. Software: Photoshop, Toon Boom Animate Pro, After Effects, Logic Pro, Final Cut Pro, Brushes app
Hardware: iMac, Macbook Pro, Wacom Intuos 4, iPod touch
Other: Also made a clay model of the cat and miniatures of the boat and the tree
