Sonic: Is Mayonnaise an Instrument?

An animation about a bird learning to sing!Self explanitory, really! This was made for a capstone project in my graduating year of college, The project was to push yourself, and push myself I did, I didn't make the deadline, but I'm really proud of how this turned out. This was a passion project through and through, and I made a lotta sacrifices to get this thing done I hope you love it as much as I do! Made in Blender!Sounds and music made in Beepbox!Special thanks to Inkscape ! Not sure how long this took, at least spent a days time in this project file alone though 7500 frames, at 24 frames per second Thanks for reading!

Birdie Learns to Sing

Whoops, unsure what happened with that last upload. It appears those darn supernatural forces are tampering with my stuff again. Hate it when that happens. Anyways, I gave them some Snickers bars so they should be away for a while. Here's the upload of the episode as originally intended. Gonna copy over the description too. This is the sixth episode of Roasted Meatloaf, originally made in 2023 (though I think production started in 2021 when the fifth episode was being made.) After the efforts put into the previous one, I decided to make this one a bit simpler. Despite that, the methods of production still evolved a bit. This episode moved away from recordMyDesktop for the screen-recorded sequences and instead utilized Deepin Screen Recorder, which at the time I apparently had no idea apparently originates from a Chinese Linux Distribution named Deepin, which was previously based primarily on Ubuntu and Debian. I'm an Ubuntu user myself, so I guess that's why I got it through the software center around that time. The graphics for this episode shifted back into primarily being made using GIMP. However, Inkscape still remained involved, both for reused elements such as the Inkscape version of my character as well as some newly made assets. Jeff returns as a main role, although he has no lines. Alongside Jeff's return to the spotlight, some elements from previous episodes also play a part. Additionally, this episode confirms that Jeff is also called "J. J." sometimes, which I developed upon him theoretically being a "Jeff J." of some kind. I experimented a bit with using 3D Blender graphics within the 2D world for one part. There was a bit of an animation error with it, but apparently I couldn't bother myself to fix it so I just put up a sign on the wall in the previous shot that explains it in-universe. Speaking of Blender, I've decided to pivot from using Clipchamp to make the credits and re-renders for these version to using Blender for those tasks instead. I just sort of felt like pivoting towards a somewhat better way of editing things. However, I did write out the credits in Clipchamp before deciding to switch to Blender, and I had to consult that so I could copy over the text, so Clipchamp is still credited for having some kind of involvement. Oh also the opening logo text slightly changed again for this episode. I guess I kind of had to do that because it opens on a white background so no one could see it if there was no outline, but the addition of an outline will also remain in use for later episodes. That's the bulk of the details behind this episode I guess. Enjoy if you'd like, don't if you'd rather not.

("Bad Ending") Roasted Meatloaf S1 E6 - Fools Rush Out (Newgrounds Edition)

A short story about something inconsequential.

The frames for this were drawn by hand in Inkscape, no AI art tools were used.I used a Microsoft TTS voice for the audio.

The Crooked Lane Divider

This is the fifth episode of Roasted Meatloaf, originally made in 2022, marking a three year gap after the previous episode. The original production behind this episode was very complicated, though weirdly this version was much easier to adapt in some respects than the previous episode's adaptation. This episode marked an art shift in the series, relying much more on Inkscape than GIMP. Initially, GIMP wasn't going to be involved at all, but then there were some issues I had to fix that were a bit complicated to fix in Inkscape so I used GIMP to help (I had gotten GIMP back on my computer by this point.) One problem with the art style here in my opinion is that a lot of things don't really have as much texture as they might have had before. It has a more flat feel. Nonetheless, I guess it was good to play around with what Inkscape could do. Both GIMP and Inkscape would continue to be used for later episodes. I did a bit of chroma key/green screen experimentation in this episode. I sort of did that in the previous episode, except not as successfully. I initially wanted to use green screen for the part where Jeff is on the TV in that episode but ultimately I just poorly composited the clip over top of it. In this episode, however, I managed to rather efficiently use green screen to put in two vehicles. Another thing I experimented with were the transition effects available from Pitivi. Only two transitions really appear, but nonetheless they were fun to play with I guess. Characters from previous episodes make some cameos as extras in a crowd, albeit most of them in a redesigned Inkscape form. Some other extras are subtle pastiches of characters from pop culture, although one or two of them were ultimately altered a bit as to not look too similar to what they were referencing. Copyright/right of publicity concerns got to me a little bit again. Speaking of copyright, the only sound I really had to change in this production was the "wee" sound, which, like in the other episodes, was originally a different "wee" sound with a conflicting license. Pretty much all the other sounds were fine. Exporting was a slightly bigger obstacle. Like the previous episode, when I exported through Clipchamp it resulted in some weird graininess in some parts. Again, I had to employ the help of Blender's video editor to get a cleaner result. Pitivi was used for the bulk of original production, but there might have been a bit of OpenShot involvement as well. I decided to include it in the credits just in case. A few different screen recorders were involved in the animation process. One of them was recordMyDesktop, which I had used in the previous episodes, but others included Deepin Screen Recorder, Peek, and VLC's built-in recorder. I think I lost access to recordMyDesktop at some point in production which explains why this occurred. recordMyDesktop would ultimately be retired from usage in later episodes as I moved towards new and better tools for making animation. The card that honors people who have died in recent years originally listed some names of notable people, but I ultimately removed the names because I felt like it wasn't necessary to elevate anyone above everyone else. One extra who appears is based on the Rush drummer Neil Peart, who had died in 2020. Originally he was going to be a pseudo-Force ghost in reference to one tribute I saw that was an edit of a Return of the Jedi frame, but ultimately I decided that might be taken the wrong way and seen as poor taste so instead I made him a guy who plays drums (the sound for which I made using Online Sequencer.) Neil had a mustache at one point so that's why the guy has a mustache; he was sort of a conglomeration of Neil's appearances in life so as to not realistically resemble him too much (due to potential publicity rights concerns.) The WHAT News broadcast also contains a small reference to Rush as another tribute. The WHAT News anchor is voiced by my dad, who is credited under a pseudonym. He also has connections with the band that created the outro song, hence its usage. Well, that's all I'll say for now. Hope you enjoy, but it's okay if you don't.

Roasted Meatloaf S1 E5 - On New Year's Day (Newgrounds Edition)

This is the fourth episode of Roasted Meatloaf, originally made in 2019 (just like 2 and 3.) This animation gets a bit more ambitious, though it doesn't always have the best results. This episode was kind of a struggle in its original development due to some stuff shaking up production. Initially there were some very direct audio and visual references to copyrighted material involved, but those were removed or replaced before the original version was rendered because it was around that time that I started getting more concerned about copyright and related stuff. For this version, I actually made a minor additional change to help dodge some potential personality/publicity rights issues. I don't know if it's likely for me to get in a scenario related to that, but I try to lean on the side of caution. Additionally, because I had moved to a new computer in the middle of development and didn't get GIMP reinstalled for some reason (I was still a kid and had to have my dad install things via admin password), I decided to complete the rest of the graphics using Inkscape (which I did have installed for some reason.) I guess it was good to start getting into Inkscape because I would eventually employ it more in future episodes, but it does create a bit of a weird shift in the animation's appearance after a certain point. I tried to create more complex character movements for the parts where the "Santa" character approaches, which led to some mixed results. I think some animations turned out pretty decently, though other ones have some pretty obvious errors and I probably could have done them better if I made this today. Not to mention the sort of continuity issues with the character's appearance. Other visual flaws in this episode include some rather egregious examples of inconsistent aspect ratios and a bit of poor compositing. It was with this episode that I started branching out beyond recording myself flipping through an image viewer and re-recording sped-up versions of initial recordings by making use of qStopMotion to animate some parts. As the name of the software suggests, qStopMotion is primarily intended for stop motion animations as it is derived from another application called Stopmotion. However, I found it rather suitable for animating my digital images in sequences. The video quality gets a little weird in some parts, as if it's ripped from some degraded videotape or film reel. This wasn't intentional, but rather part of some weird rendering issues with the original. That original process was rather complicated as it took the effort of two different programs, Pitivi and OpenShot, to get some things the way I wanted. The renders for this version had even more problems with quality degradation, so alongside Clipchamp I had to employ the help of Blender's video editor to get a cleaner export. I didn't necessarily have time to clean everything up however. Since both of my grandmothers (the one on my dad's side and the one on my mom's side) had passed away before December of 2019, I decided to put a thing honoring them in the credits (well, after them is actually a bit more accurate, but you know what I mean.) That's all I got to say for right now. Enjoy if you would like, don't if you wouldn't like. Merry Christmas and whatever else people celebrate this month.

Music animation about the frustration of failing to kill a mosquito with English Subtitles

I hate mosquito. They're very annoying in summer days. This is my attempt to make an hilarious song about killing a mosquito. Hope that you'd like it! :) It's my first serious animation project in my life. A part of the music were made during my practice before Global Game Jam 2018. Resources for remixing this piece of music is available. They can be used for changing the vocal and remixing of the music, as well as making new subtitles for the animation. For details, please refer to this official blog post: https://sadale.net/55/ Music made with LMMS with vocal recorded with Audacity.
Animated with Synfig with base graphic drawn with Inkscape. The language of this song is Toki Pona. It's a minimalist language with only 123 words in the entire language. It can be mastered in weeks. ----------
Translated Lyrics:
During summer, mosquitoes are entering my home
They're black, little and gross
I sprayed mosquito repellent against them
Most of them died in no time
But one of them survived strong! Refrain:
It took a flight to my front. And I tried slapping it
Shortly after that it escaped to my back!
I looked at the mosquito behind me and slapped it
It got to the bottom, got to the top and got to everywhere around me Mosquito enters my home from window
I'm closing the windows so that they can't enter my home
With the windows closed, mosquitoes can't enter my home anymore
I guess I can sleep well tonight
It turns out that mosquito came before I closed the windows!
(repeats refrain) But one of them survived strong!
(repeats refrain)
I can't get asleep at all! I'm infuriated! Damn it! ----------
nimi mute pi kalama musi (Original Lyrics in Toki Pona):
