These are the words of the preacher.... King in Jerusalem. A short animation about some verses from the Book of Ecclesiastes.

The Book Of Ecclesiastes

Born in Germany to a religiously observant family, Amichai and his family emigrated to Eretz Yisrael in 1935, living briefly in Petach Tikvah before settling in Jerusalem. In World War II he fought with the Jewish Brigade of the British Army, and upon his discharge in 1946, he joined the Palmach. During the War of Independence he fought in the Negev, on the southern front. Following the war, Amichai attended Hebrew University, studying Biblical texts and Hebrew literature, and then taught in secondary schools.

EP04 Kosher Joe celebrates passover with green onions!?!

An interesting Middle Eastern tradition involves the use of green onions to whip each other during Passover, as it reminds us of the miracle that freed us from the lash of oppression... Guess who's coming to dinner? More on Passover: Every Jewish child who has ever sat through a Passover seder knows the excitement and expectation that accompanies the filling of the cup of Elijah. The annual drama at the close of the seder has the child going to the door to invite Elijah in. As a child, I remember how exciting it was to open the door and see if the "special guest" would appear. I even remember getting up early the following morning to see if the cup of Elijah (still on the table) had been touched. It was as if I expected Elijah to arrive during the night, have a drink of wine and then go on his way. The tradition continues with the hope that one year Elijah will actually appear. The seder ends not with disappointment, but rather with a longing and yearning for the prophet to come soon, next year. The refrain of the simple but jubilant song, l'shanah ha ba'ah b' Yerushalayim ("Next Year in Jerusalem") echoes in the streets of Jerusalem, Tel Aviv and wherever our people observe the Passover. The Book of Jeremiah through the eyes of God.

A project on the Book of Jeremiah class. We originally made just the song but then we saw that all the other projects had powerpoint or slideshow stuff. We realized this the night before it was due. The first voice is my roommate. The second is me, and the other two are my friends that were in on the writing of the song.

NOW SUBTITLED Sad yet true: Grievances of a German parish (2o - 25 minutes)

SUBTITLES: English [in case you've watched it before you might have to refresh your browser]
DURATION: 2o - 25 Minutes
REVIEWS GREATLY APPRECIATED!!! !!! PLEASE NOTE THE FOLLOWING PRIOR TO WATCHING OR RATING THIS MOVIE !!! This movie already had its own website and domain (gottlos.info), which got hacked and deleted within two weeks after uploading it. It caused a lot of controversy, as you are bound to notice watching it. Due to the fact that, if we had put our voices in the movie, the people who are obviously seeing themselves being unmasked would immediately have known our identities, there are unofortunately no voices in the video. The movie is NOT meant to diminish anyone's religious beliefs, bash christianity or anything like that. Take a closer look if you think it does. It really does not. It shows the state of a few selected people, not to be generalized too much. I do myself believe in God and I am Roman-Catholic. Which does not matter at all regarding the movie tho. This movie contains a lot serious stuff. The people and, most importantly, their actions shown in this movie have strong parallels to reality. The movie shows the grievances of a local parish. It was originally made for a German audience, most of whom would know the situation themselves and be able to realize who and what is meant. English subtitles are now also included. But tho the text is in German, everybody should be able to understand the situation through the enormous power of picture language. This is real. Watch it and think about it. -- Oh, and one last thing, sorry bout the poor sound quality of 24kbps mp3, I had to lower it because of the 10 MB upload limit at newgrounds. YOU WILL FIND A COMPLETE SONG LIST ALONG WITH THE 'CREDITS' AT THE END OF THE MOVIE.
