This small piece of animation served as a proof of concept that a 3D background and hand drawn characters could be combined in a Blender work space. It was really just supposed to be a small experimen…

Alley Rats

Drew beat and made a little rough animation of him talkin' about the Rokka-I mean...AI.

There was a really shitty AI post someone put up on twitter where Beat's spray can would 'AI' itself as he moved around, and he followed that up with "AI is superior" mumbo jumbo and the words weren't even spelled right. So I made this in response and posted it.

Late by a few months who would've guessed, but holy SHIT it's finally DONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! For everyone wondering why I've been silent for the past year and a half, IT WAS THIS!! (╬⊙皿⊙;) So, long story short, around March or April of 2023 Shleptboi came to me with the proposal of joining the Newgrounds Dreamcast Collab and making a toon for it, and I was hesitant at first because none of the shorts were taken but I know if I picked Jet Set Radio that'd I'd have to deliver as hard as I possibly can- and I hope I did! After some back-n-forth I finally decided to claim the short, and thus commenced the development of "how the hell do I turn Jet Set Radio into a cartoon with a plot to follow!?" The first script we (Shleptboi, raivnn, and I) had came up with was really good, but it was also like 70/80 cuts adding up to 5 minutes total of animation, and the team and I tried to pursue it, but it just wasn't happening orz Not to mention I didn't really like how my cuts were turning out, so halfway into the second half of 2023 I decided to scrap everything we made and start from scratch, with a very simple story in mind. After groveling for a bit I came up with a schizo-chart to plot out the storybeats, then I immediately went into boarding. Surprisingly, this time the flow of the story just came naturally to me! That story being the one you are about to/just have watched. There was a point where my Discord account was hacked and I had to finish the rest of the animation using my iPhone as a file transfer to get the other animator's work on my computer, it was a whole process, but im glad that in spite of that I was able to finish this and with this amount of quality, I am quite proud of what my team and I were able to put together (゜▽゜)o☆ CASTGum - DenshaVAPiranha - meulinexMew - BunniBabzBeat - ShleptboiRed Noise Tank - VILLAINBlue Noise Tank - Seamus64Noise Tank Leader - crishatesyouDJ Prof. K - LuckoDaStars (King Cole) WritingWriters - Shleptboi, tofokyo, raivnnStory Outline - tofokyo, Shleptboithis shit went through like three iterations, im tired man EditingStory Editors - tofokyo, Shleptboi, raivnnDialogue Editors - Shleptboi, raivnn StoryboardStorybeats - tofokyoRevision #1 - raivnn, tofokyo, JrembyRevision #2 - tofokyo Background Art & You've got a Funky Space Reporter, a Stylistic Hedgehog, and a Groovy Member of the GGs, what do you get? An awesome line up of games to go with an awesome console..

It's still thinking.

The DreamCAST

Okay, this... was another one of my animation class projects done with After Effects, in no particular order. It's a really short one, but there's a bit of a backstory to this one. To sum it up, we had to take a bunch of PNGs and JPGs to turn them into an animated collage. I was kinda stumped on this one. I knew the prompt, being that it had to be a recreation of a key memory or something, but I wasn't sure what to do with this one until the last few weeks before it was due, so I rushed it a bit. They suggested to make it based off what what I enjoy, special memories, or things that I identify with. So, I just went by those suggestions. Here, I've pretty much recreated what it felt like rediscovering JSRF on the XBOX after sleeping on it until late 2019. It kinda became my comfort game to carry me through the 2020's.I was debating on whether or not to use Vail as Street Rat again for this project, (especially since i was already working on a similar thing prior to this class), but since I was running out of time, I just kinda went with it.Here, I kinda did it in the style of ATHF, where I took segmented 2D animations I did in Flash, borrowed a bunch of pictures from the web and slapped a cel shader on them through After Effects to match the art style I was going for.I was running out of time, so the 2D animation was a bit janky initially. But I did go back to smooth out the rough edges. (even if i chose the worst possible time to actively work on it again, i literally started working on this the week before my semester started up to now) This was up in the college's art gallery for a month or two, back in May. (i even added a paraphrased disclaimer like in the game so nobody thinks i'm promoting criminal activity lmao) But I didn't go the first day it showed up. I wasn't very proud of it at first since I was kind of just throwing it together at the last minute, I felt somewhat obligated to submit it to the gallery by my professor (I didn't have to, but she did say there was extra credit involved, and she was genuinely excited to see it up), I felt like it needed a bit more work, and it was only 15 seconds long, really, like about the same length as a TV bumper. So I never got to hear what people thought outside of class. But please, let me know what you think! I'd appreciate the feedback! 9-28-22 edit: DANG!! i didn't expect it to blow up this much and even get a front page feature, thank you so much for the feedback, i appreciate it!! Dollar Store "Funky Dealer" music was made by me, composed in OpenMPT.(this took me WAY too long to re-render, like 4 hours not counting the many, MANY times it got stuck halfway through or at 99%) sketches (a couple unused poses):
