The Running Man!!!

I made this junior/sophomore year in college. I love the theme of kid commercials which aren't even really a thing anymore. There existed hundreds of commercials in America of kids "doing thing enthusiastically." I thought it would be hilarious to do it for something insanely boring. When thinking of what the funniest thing you could sell to kids my grandma gave me a microwave pouch of cabbage soup: nailed it. Most of it is in camera effects. The steam/glow was done by putting a piece of acrylic in front of the entire frame and animating using vaseline. The chair was painted oils clay. The latex paint dries like wood and only had to last until I did the melt. I nailed it in one but I had 2 just incase. The only part I didn't like was the texture of the faces. This was my first try at casting epoxy. I was unaware at how much I was going to need to sand smooth or Dremel the demolded faces. In turn the faces were a bit bumpy and I assumed that I had done it wrong. The replacement faces are cool. I really don't like covering seems in stop motion still. Blatantly seeing the edges of the faces are purposefully not covered up digitally or with clay; to me seeing the parts of the toy is part of the fun of stop motion. The majority of armature work is done with magnets. The feet have neodymium in them as do the replacement faces and the base head. I also really would want to go back to this modok style body. This was made for a children's media class so the main audience is tweens (which is my primary audience). Lastly the format. This is not 16:9 nor 4:3. I kinda shot it native so that I could evoke old 4:3 tv while fitting into modern widescreen trend. Raver girl and his grandpa living the night life

Kandi raver AU Kuya and Edmond kandi raving in full HD!Man, even though I learned/did a lot for this, the words aren't coming out. But yea I have some first timers for this: first actual 2D animation in a while, first complicated puppets animated, and first time using AE for some effects. For sure woulda posted this a few days earlier at 3 am, but I actually have to wake up a little earlier these days (no more long term NEETing). First time in a while I'm actually gonna have to go straight to bed after posting. But yea, process stuff. Animate once again diarrheaing itself, nothing unusual. There was a kinda annoying moment where animate would crash if tried to add asset warp points to the character's mesh/veil parts, but I figured it out. Kinda bothered by how much better Kuya's animation is compared to my beloved Edmond's. Like I'd copy paste all of his motion tweens onto Edmond's but I am not going to wait for another Animate stroke. But yeah, I like how most of this turned out. Gonna make one last animation before school starts but it's slightly more ambitious so we'll see.Lol even in this quality you can still see the characters' bald spots when they fade outOk bye

1st Car Flash Animation

If you were, or still are familiar with Flash during NG's old or gold years, you'll probably remember something about motion tweens. They're a very innovative feature that helped define Flash animation for over a decade, allowing thousands of up-and-coming creators to speed up their process and helped launch the careers of Foamy the Squirrel, Salad Fingers, TmsT, and of course, yours truly. BIG NEWS

Short animation of Tyron Woodley in a Street Fighter Style Game Over screen!

Street Fighter 2 Game Over screen inspired animation with Tyron Woodley after his UFC loss to Gilbert Burns. A quick video intended to help me learn about motion tweens and to gain more experience. I did the countdown voice and created the music aiming for a retro sega genesis sound or Super Nintendo. It’s never a bad thing for me to get more practice making music along with my animations. This was a healthy leaning exercise!

A cartoon that spents a short time in the mind of a strange character obsessed with apples

I wanted to try screwing around a bit with the conscious and unconscious mind of a serial killer, then ended up landing on apples due to their appearances in pop culture. This my first non test outing in ToonBoom oppose to Flash. I wanted to try mixing motion tweens with full animation. Even though there ended up being much more tweens, which i know upsets a lot of animators, I'm relatively happy with the results. The toonboom puppet rigs were fun to play around with.

EGGheads!

On an iceberg in the ocean an adorable seal is not being clubbed -but what's in the water?

This is my first animation. My great accomplishment of sealitude <3. We were given the task of creating a 60second+ animation for a Multimedia module and allowed complete free reign on the plot, characters and style. Since this is my first real animation (apart from small clips to learn how flash works) I started more or less from scratch. It was a great and terrible experience. I am in love with the concept of being able to fabricate an entire world from scratch and being able to transfer my thoughts and ideas into such a tangible product. But on the other hand, this is one of the most time consuming mediums I have experienced. That being said, I would do it again in a snap. The idea came to me while doodling in a lecture (as you do). I drew a seal - a square one. And as a logical next step I drew a club, but I didn't really fancy killing off a seal with a club. A few lectures later I flicked past an octopus I had drawn previously and the idea sprouted in my noggin. I didn't want to brutally murder the seal, but I liked the concept of coupling something so cute with a dark and twisty element. Over about a week I developed my idea and incorporated intrigue, irony and humour into the plot, but was worried it would reach the minute mark. I pushed that worry to the back of my mind and created the storyboard in Photoshop in the style I planned on using. I did a lot of *cough* market research (spent hours trawling Newgrounds) and took an interest in My Little Pony (go watch it). A lot of my inspiration in terms of style came from My Little Pony - the whimsical clouds and outlining an object with a colour a few shades darker than the fill. I used a Wacom Intuos 4 for the drawing bits, and CS5.5 adobe software. I originally planned on creating the characters in Photoshop - where I am more comfortable than sparkling new Flash, but relented and switched to flash because vector images were simply a better solution. As I animated I surprisingly didn't change my storyline or characters by much - only small tweaks and improvements. I used motion tweens for the majority of my animation with chunks of frame by frame. I avoided using notoriously buggy bones for as long as possible - but again relented when it was a more elegant solution to octopus tentacles than other things I had tried. I added the sound towards the end of the process and tweaked my animation to suit. I used Audition for sound editing - which was also a new experience. I learnt a lot but also learnt that I really don't know much at all about the vastly powerful complexity that is every single Adobe product. I'll get there. To me, this animation was successful - not in terms of the realism of the movement or the perfection of timing but in the sense that I accomplished something cool. I created a world and filled it with things; I learnt more about Photoshop, Flash and Audition; I fabricated a seal that is irresistibly adorable and then deleted him with the use of an evil purple octopus.
I can't wait to do it again.

Sealed Fate

I decided to experiment with a different, simpler style using the pencil tool and motion tweens.

Battle of the Ninjas

I used some newly learned Flash skills, like motion and shape tweens.
