this is a pilot episode for a parody teen drama series im working on :0

What is Sonic Highschool Asylum? Sonic Highschool Asylum is an ongoing youtube web-series made by Rosesofblood aka Me!!!!! It's basically a parody take on teen dramas, but I use Sonic characters because why not lol What is my inspiration? A LOT of things. My goal is to create something akin to old flash animations I watched as a child. I know a lot of them had a simple setting where characters interacted and sometimes said some edgy things lolol. This whole thing really is just an homage to late 2000s self produced youtube series that often had its share of edgy humor and content, 4th wall breaks, and visual gags/surrealist/dry humor. Hopefully you guys like what I have to put out there, thank you.

Sonic Highschool Asylum [PILOT]

Short 2D flash animation made for a College course

In this animation, an individual that goes by Esperanza is trying to get in contact with her Catholic faith by manifesting a church setting in her mind. The setting fades into black when the character feels anxious of loneliness. However, she was able to be eased with the presence with the Virgin Mary as she lets Esperanza know that God is with her. If this project was done again, it should be amended that the Virgin Mary isn’t meant to be an individual equal to God, but as an individual that we respect and communicate towards to aid in prayer. The animation is inspired by the unfinished work print The Thief and the Cobbler, for utilizing 2d animation to create 3d environments and include background pieces large in scale; evident to the first seconds of the animation. To achieve the 3d effect on the benches, I first drawn a vector drawing of it in one point perspective and select the points connected to the foreground side to which dragging distorts the perspective in illustrator. This vector test is then recreated in adobe animate by using shape tweens to change the bench’s perspective from the left to the right. To keep the animation from staying in place with its distortion, a classic tween can be used to bring the first frame to the left side of the composition and can move the animation towards the right side. Giving the illusion that a camera is following the character, for the benches to descend from the right to the left while retaining a one-point perspective. It isn’t accurately one-point, but it does give the illusion of three dimensionality in a 2D environment. The location is inspired by the "Immaculate Conception Catholic Church (Immaculate Conception-Five Holy Martyrs Parish)"

Bob turned into his tank version. Who made him mad?

Ehhh I just found out what shape tween is for. I mean, I never really needed it so I guess it's normal. Basically, I was just toying around in CS6 while doing an upcoming TF2 animation and I "found" the shape tween. I had seen this effect before but I never really knew how to do it. This confirms my below average IQ Level lmao. So I decided to do a test animation. hah that's it Used a Yoshi's Island sound effect (Morphing SFX) (2024-11-09 EDIT) Holy shit I did not expect this to have so many views and votes! Thanks y'all!

Xbox Live Shake (Aqua teen hunger force animation)

This was a flash animation that was made back in April 13, 2014. I was new to newgrounds and was learning along with Jazza's Flash tutorial. Back then the resources and tutorials was scarce and the Swivel software on Newgrounds was the website that helped me convert swf files into recognizable formats on the internet. I was just practicing and exploring how to use motion tweens and symbols with Macromedia Flash 8 also known as Adobe Flash or Adobe Animate. Time flies fast and these days I often see beautiful masterpieces on the internet. This may not be a masterpiece but I wanted to share it here on Newgrounds since I forgot to share it here when I was struggling to export the flash animation back in 2014. Since then, I learned that most cartoons, like most modern music are, made out of a looped frames. Since then I try to observe every cartoon I watch to see if they use techniques like these when I did see some examples on TV, this later became a passion. This was inspired from playing Need For Speed Most Wanted: Carbon. I got an Orange Lancer Evo.

a tribute to things that won't exist unless they do

MOBILE USERS this thing seems to really choke on mobile, so maybe don't even try Some things in this film that you can't do in a standard video player: Unknown runtimeNo rewinding, no skipping aheadExtremely dense patterns that would get destroyed by video compressionMoiré effects that change if you mess with the zoom setting on your browserEffects that change depending on if you're using flash player or RuffleAnd more! Technical note:Most of the effects here are done with gradients, shape tweens, bitmap fills and blending modes, meaning something like this theoretically could have been made as early as 2005 (maybe blending modes came a little later?), though at the time the narration probably would have seemed very weird. It likely wouldn't have been able to run at 60fps, either. There's almost no code - just the interactive stuff is as3, which I'd never used before this. I've decided I hate it.Here's the <a href="https://www.newgrounds.com/dump/item/721ada80ef7dd602fd9ab40269b9dc05">source file</a>, if you want a peek behind the curtain (no audio, it makes the file like 20x bigger) Big thanks to:<ul>

</ul> (Update 5/19/2023)We won the jam which is cool! (1st interactive movie). Today I was talking to Harvey about what the "point" of the movie is supposed to be, and I was actually able to put it pretty succinctly, so I thought I'd paste it here as the official "artist's statement." (Spoilers):<blockquote>The thing I was getting at in the video was that the domino-effect of people building on each others' ideas is less likely to happen if the medium is already "dead," which is important because every antiquated way of doing things still has it's own unique aesthetic strengths in addition to its shortcomings. (you kind of have to put the pieces together yourself that that's the thesis of the video - the idea that old technology can have obscure strengths over new technologies is only spelled out plainly in the phone call at the end)</blockquote>Oh also, we were on the front page of Hacker News for a minute! [SMASH ULTIMATE FANIMATION] DIDDY KONG'S TOUGH BREAK

This is my entry for Jazza's Tradigital Contest

This is a digital animation depicting an artist drawing on a traditional medium. There is also an aesthetic conflict between the traditional frame-by-frame animation of the head as opposed to the digital shape-tween animation of the arm and line work on the "paper." Perhaps reality is warping as he draws a picture of himself drawing a picture of himself, and so on.

Project I did for school while learning how to use flash. Very rough. Very bad, but I figured since it took me so long to make (becaue I had no clue what I was doing) I mine as well put it up.
I had to use shape, motion, andclassic tweens so the part where they are falling and punching looks pretty bad. but it ha to be done. Originally I just had the scene where they muscleman and ninja go through the serpintine maze, but the teacher said we had to add a story to our animation. So personally I think it was better with out the story, but I still like the part where the ninga gets banished for farting. And the warden looks Nice and creepy too.

Crazy Truths

Little fish gets tricked when an Angler fish's bait comes around

Small little animation I put together for my Flash class I had last year. My teacher never actually gave us things he wanted us to do. He really let us do our own things as long as they had something that we learned from the lectures in it. This one I think was learning tweening and Shape tween or something. So yah just a little silly thing I put together where a little fish is just kinda sitting around all bored when he thinks a pretty female fish has come up to say hi to him. He goes gaga and chases the fish when it leaves only to not realize its a trap by a bigger Angler fish. Really dumb little animation. More just practice with tools and stuff so don't judge this too harshly :)

Oh, hello there newgrounds, I didn't see you there.
Now that you're here maybe you'd like to have a look at my latest animation.
It's pretty abstract... don't say I didn't warn you. Over the past year or so I've been working a lot with design principles and elements and wanted to make a stripped back piece with a focus on basic shapes and principles of movement. I found an old book of origami patterns and did some basic planning, then BOOM here we are... My main focus in animating this was using easing in and out and overlapping actions to create a more effective whipping action in the folds. This is entirely frame by frame animation, I don't believe that you can create realistic exaggerations of movement with tweens, though I'd love for someone to prove me wrong because animating it would be much quicker. I've added a section showing how to fold your own paper crane if you're interested. If you fold 1,000 of these suckers you will achieve enlightenment... and paper cuts. *edit* DAILY 2ND &amp; FRONT PAGE - THANKS A LOT EVERYONE!

Hi there, it's me again with a longer shape morphing movie, this time made longer, FBF (Frame By Frame

Morphing Shapes

This guys getting killed by balls? But this guys going to make those balls pay...

This is possible my finest work (says the animator). Looking back at it, I'm supirsed how the random ball throwing thing had worked so well. I put all the limbs on seperat layers so I could shape tween them to get that smooth move to them, without any extra lines appearing. It also makes it a whole lot faster than frame-by-frame animating it.
This was a lot of fun to make, and equllaly fun to watch the end result. I hope you enjoy it as much as I'm have been making it.
This is much better than YouTube. One day, and 10 reviews, thank you, I have added a background, and even "streamed" the music, so it's all syched, so you don't have to open in a pop-up window. I have also changed the title. Not much you can say, guy gets attacked by balls, how are you meant to title that? I was able to get round that, but had o make up a few things on-the-spot.
Xein is pronounced "Zen" and is a force that is sort of like being Neo from Matrix. Along with that, your world is your oyster to paint, so to speak. You can make one thing from another providing that it is made from the same materials. Now that's covered, enjoy the animation.

A few months ago I made this TRON based animation for a video contest. I made it into the top 10 but didn't win. Not wanting this to go to waste, I finally got around to gutting any references to the original contest and put it up here. This was also an experiment with CS4's 3D rotation features and how well I could get them to mesh with my old Lightcycle models and 'shape tween 3D' techniques. It was also done in a rather short amount of time, so some of the art is sub-par.

This is an UNFINISHED flash animation started in August 2007, and ended in May 2009. I was forced to end it due to the countless errors i've been facing while making the animation.
The errors are obvious like the screwed-up V-cam at the first part; the tweens and shapes distorted; and a few missing objects along the way. Progress log:
- This project started out in August 2007.
- The progress was delayed at Dec 2007.
- Continued from June 2008 all the way to July 2008.
- Animation delayed until Dec 2008 where i have to re-animate a scene because my computer had a virus and i lost EVERYTHING.

The Autobots battle the Decepticons once again

Visit my site: <a href="http://marvel.netau.net" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">http://marvel.netau.net</a> This is a Flash Music Video that started off as a joke. I was doing a in class excercise on shape tweens when I made Optimus Prime and BumbleBee transform. I kept adding scene after scene, and finally I took this project seriously and decided to turn it into a epic movie portraiying the conflict between the Autobots and the Decepticons. This movie took me around 50 hours to create. I released a short preview on NewGrounds earlier, but I have changed several elements from that preview. All the drawings were made using a mouse. It definately wasn't easy making all this, but I managed to pull it off. I had a hard time choosing which background music to take as well, I experimented with the Transformers Armada theme song and with several epic songs. Finally I chose the Spider-Man trailer music because it fit the situation perfectly. I made the soundtrack in sync with the movie but I tested on several different computers and Network connections, the sound can be a little late or early depending on your Computer and ISP. This is my ultimate tribute to one of my favorite childhood cartoons: Transformers.
I really hope you enjoy the movie. For anyone who wonders why I mixed the G1-G2 etc. Transformers, I don't like all the transformers from the same generation I like some from each. Thats why you will see the first Megatron and the latest model of BumbleBee. Please do write a review to let me know what you think about it. I have another Flash project in mind about a classic Television Show.
