Description
Anubis was the Egyptian god of funerary practices, serving as both protector of graves and guide of the afterlife in Egyptian mythology. He is usually portrayed as a human with a black canine head, or a black jackal in ancient Egyptian art.
He is commonly described as being the son of Nephthys. His father varies depending on the traditions; in later myths, he is often identified as Osiris, while in earlier traditions, Set is depicted as his father.
