Description
Lying on a warm surface for the purposes of absorbing heat. The warmth may come from the object itself, or from an external source such as sunlight.
Reptiles often engage in this behavior, as their inability to generate their own body heat requires them to absorb heat from external sources. Other animals sometimes bask as well.
