[color=character]Birdo/Birdie[/color] ([color=character]ăăŁă”ăȘăł Catherine[/color]) is a recurring character in the Mario Bros series. She debuted in Super Mario Bros. 2 as a recurring enemy, and appears in spinoff games as a counterpart for Yoshi.
Birdo is a short, pink dinosaur-like creature with a white belly, purple eyeshadow with long eyelashes, red spikes on her back, and purple spots on her cheeks. In place of a snout, she instead has a large, round hole that can shoot eggs and fire. She wears a large red bow on her head and a diamond ring on her left hand.
Various sources depict her as a transgender woman, including multiple translations of the Super Mario Bros. 2/Doki Doki Panic instruction booklet misgendering her.

A quest in Captain Rainbow consists of entering Birdo's house and acquiring the "proof of femininity", a censored item that makes a vibrating noise, after she is arrested for entering the women's restroom.
