Description

A race of anthropomorphic rats in Final Fantasy IX, hailing from the Kingdom of Burmecia. Though the English translation refers to their kind as Burmecians, the Japanese original refers to their kind as "nezumi", the Japanese word for mice and rats. The term "rats" is used in the English only by the game's villains, as a derogatory term.

Burmecians seem to have a very militant society, with many of its citizens serving martial roles for their kingdom. Most Burmecians that appear in the game are seen wearing simple armor over their upper bodies, with a few civilian spouses and children also appearing.

Burmecians share a common history with their neighbors, the Cleyrans. For more information about this, see the wiki entry for Cleyran.

The most prominent Burmecian in the game is Freya Crescent, who is a playable character in the game.
