Description
A dryad is a type of nymph that lives in a tree. While there are many types of dryads in Greek mythology, this website doesn't differentiate between them.
A shy creature, a dryad is the spirit of a tree. Legend says that if the tree were to die, the associated dryad would die as well. As such, dryads can be fierce protectors of not only their own tree, but of the forest around them. That said, their favor can be earned...
Dryad are typically depicted as young, beautiful young women (though all genders are possible in the realm of fantasy), closely associated with a tree, or nature.
