Jax (real name,
spoilerLeeroy Mateo
) is one of the main characters in Glitch Productions' The Amazing Digital Circus. He is one of the 6 human victims who have become trapped in the Digital Circus. He is voiced in the series by Michael Kovach.

Personality

Jax is often characterized by his mischievous, sociopathic, and sarcastic personality. He appears indifferent to his imprisonment within the Digital Circus, which extends to his highly antagonistic behavior to others. Rather than engaging with the gang, he seems to only do things that amuse himself, making him a trickster of sorts. Despite his disruptive behavior, he generally maintains a calm demeanor, yet his flattery is generally stemmed from his personal insecurities.

Appearance

He has the appearance of a tall, anthropomorphic rabbit with periwinkle fur, and yellow teeth that don't move whenever he talks. He is usually seen wearing red overalls and yellow gloves. His appearance is very evocative of 1930s cartoon rubberhose designs.

Trivia

  • He is the youngest member of the cast along with Zooble, being only 22 years old according to a Tumblr post by series creator Gooseworx.
  • Jax apparently has Trypophobia, the fear of small clusters of holes and/or small repeating pattern. This apparently extends to a fear of corn and pomegranates.
  • In the series finale,
spoilerJax's flashbacks reveal that he was friends with Kaufmo and Ribbit, who have since been abstracted. His selfish personality was a byproduct of his trauma of revealing his troubled past to Ribbit, which resulted in him lying about it later, and thus led Jax to further ruin his relations with Ribbit and Kaufmo.
  • Several episodes (especially the finale) feature implications that
spoilerJax is a closeted transfeminine person
, and posts by the show's crew on social media have confirmed this subtext to be both intentional and canon. Following the finale, series creator Gooseworx
spoilerhas referred to Jax with both 'he/him' or 'she/her' pronouns, though she stated that either is fine.
    Gooseworx
spoilercreated an alternate design based on this implication, tagged here as "Gooseworx's post-transition Jax design."
