Description

Korea (한국 in the South Korean standard language or 조선 in the North Korean standard language) is a country located on the Korean Peninsula in East Asia that is bordered by China to the northwest and Russia to the northeast, and separated from Japan to the east by the Korea Strait and the Sea of Japan (East Sea). Since 1945, it has been separated into two distinct sovereign states: the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (or "North Korea" for short) and the Republic of Korea (or "South Korea").
