Examples

Motion outline

The most common form of motion line. These lines appear along the contours of a character, or object.

Directed motion outline

The combination of a motion outline with path / direction lines. This will usually have at least one intersecting line.

Path lines

A component frequently seen in motion blur, these lines show the travel path of a moving character, or object.

Direction lines

Direction lines are similar to path lines, but are actually a variant of speed lines. These lines consist of spaced or clustered groups of parallel lines set in the direction of a forceful action. These often appear along contours, and may even intersect with the contour. See also distorted contour
