Description

A narwhal (Monodon monoceros) is a species of medium-sized toothed whale commonly found near the Arctic Ocean. Its most distinguishing feature is the long, spiraling upper left tooth sported by males (and the occasional female) and used both for fighting and for breaking holes in ice floes for breathing. In the past, this tooth was often mistaken for the horn of a unicorn.
