Description
Nightmare Moon (VA: Tabitha St. Germain) is a recurring antagonist in My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic. She is the evil version of Princess Luna, corrupted by her bitterness towards her sister, Princess Celestia, for being beloved by the ponies of Equestria while Luna and her night are shunned. As Nightmare Moon, she vows to destroy her sister and rule over Equestria in eternal night. This forces Celestia to imprison her in the moon, forming the mare in the moon. One thousand years later, Nightmare Moon breaks free, but is defeated by the Mane Six and the Elements of Harmony, restoring her to Luna.
Nightmare Moon is a tall, slender winged unicorn with a jet black coat, cyan eyes with vertical slit pupils, and sharp purple eyelashes. Her mane and tail are dark blue with a light purple edge, and both flow on their own and are filled with stars. Her cutie mark is a crescent moon surrounded by purple splotches. From the show's second season onward, she is shown to have sharp vampire-like fangs. She is depicted wearing a set of light violet armor at all times, which consists of a helmet, a chest piece with a crescent moon insignia, and four shoes.
