SCP-682, colloquially known as the "Hard-to-Destroy Reptile", is a reptile character from the mythos of the SCP Foundation website. Its entry was co-authored by Dr Gears and Epic Phail Spy, and it was posted to the site in July 2008. SCP-682 is an incredibly smart, fast, and strong reptile monster with a hatred of all life, and will attempt to kill any living thing within its line of sight. The Foundation has repeatedly tried to kill it; however, SCP-682 has remarkable regenerative abilities, able to stay active and restore itself even with over 80% of its body destroyed. Additionally, it appears to be able to temporarily copy the abilities of any SCP used against it. It is kept in containment in a massive acid bath to hinder its ability to escape while the Foundation searches of a method of exterminating it.
The original image used in its article was the exposed skull of a whale's corpse; while this has since been changed, it still forms the basis of all illustrated interpretations of SCP-682. The general interpretation of SCP-682 is a massive lizard-like creature with a skull head and long black hair. While its official gender is left ambiguous, anthropomorphized art tend to depict it as female and with a remarkably similar appearance to SCP-1471-A. Consequently, the two are often paired together.
