Original PlayStation (or PSX) design. The first game, Spyro the Dragon, had incorrectly-shaped wings.
Tail tip is leaf-shaped instead of drill- or bullet-shaped and the frill on top of the head has been replaced with individual spikes.
Face has been made almost completely flat, tail is segmented, eyes are now red and much larger, and the hand-part of the wing is purple instead of yellow.
In this animated series, compared to his incarnation in the associated video game franchise, his mouth and eyes are smaller and the orbits are now pointing forwards.
Compared to the original, his chest plates are more angular and pointing downwards, forelegs have opposable thumbs, horns are yellow to match his spikes rather than brown, and/or his tail tip has a more evident swirl.
An unofficial (or semi-official, depending on how one chooses to see it) aged up and anthrofied design by Nicholas Kole (post #1715916), who is credited as a concept artist for the remaster trilogy, to try and bring Spyro in line with the redesigns of the various adult dragons from the remake of the first game (and the third to a lesser extent). The red scarf, the thick, fingerless gloves and the aviator goggles are signature features of this design (besides the muscular build and biped stance), as Spyro has never worn any of these in any of the games. Even when fully naked, the dark purple spiky "beard" adorning his cheeks and neck, the frill (whether or not made of hair) curling into a forelock above the face, as well as the thick, dark eyebrows are distinctive enough to set this design apart from the canonical design. Compared to the Reignited Trilogy design, this version of Spyro has the frill looking more hair-like with a forelock, similar to the Balloonist design. The arms and legs now also show "natural armor plates" running over them, as do the eyebrows to some extent. The surface area of the wings have also roughly doubled in size and became completely attached to the back, and the horns are slightly longer and now point upwards (forming a line moreso with the lower jaw than with the eyes like they did before).
