The Touhou Project (東方Project, Tōhō Purojekuto), also known as Toho Project or Project Shrine Maiden, is a Japanese dōjin game series focused on bullet hell shooters made by the one-man developer Team Shanghai Alice, whose sole member, known as ZUN, is responsible for all the graphics, music, and programming. Fighting game spinoffs are developed by a different developer, Twilight Frontier, who have also helped with some more recent Touhou games. It is most well known for the memorable characters and addictive music.
While many characters in Touhou are humanoid yokai, they are largely indistinguishable from humans and do not meet e621's standards for uploading on their own. However, animal humanoid characters such as Mamizou Futatsuiwa, Ran Yakumo, and Reisen Udongein Inaba (among others) are generally acceptable, as well as furrified versions of non-animal-humanoid characters, Games in the series
