Balkenkreuz is a straight-armed cross first introduced in German army in 1916-1918, later becoming emblem of the Wehrmacht in Nazi Germany in 1935-1945. Modern German army uses Iron Cross (Fadenkreuz) symbol instead.
Since September-October 2022, regularly used as friend/foe marker designating Ukrainian military vehicles from a distance. While some variations were made as simple Ukrainian Cossack white cross (and officially called as such), some were closely resembling Balkenkreuz, with white "corners" and uncolored (thus khaki because of armor color) or black middle.
