Description
Bean the Dynamite is an eccentric green woodpecker and expert in explosives within the Sonic the Hedgehog universe. First appearing as a playable guardian of a Chaos Emerald in the 1996 arcade game Sonic the Fighters, his design was directly inspired by the duck protagonists Bin and Pin from the Sega arcade classic Dynamite Düx. Though his game appearances are limited to minor cameos in titles like Sonic Generations and Sonic Mania, he gained significant character development in the Archie Comics and IDW Publishing series. In these stories, he is often portrayed as a wacky, unpredictable mercenary who frequently teams up with the stoic Bark the Polar Bear and the cunning Fang the Hunter to form the "Hooligans". Known for his obsessive love of "shinies" and his ability to summon an infinite supply of bombs from nowhere, Bean’s chaotic behavior and habit of assigning nonsensical nicknames make him one of the franchise's most erratic and humorous anti-heroes.
