The cherry blossom, also known as the sakura, is the flower of trees in the Prunus subgenus Cerasus. Typically "sakura" refers to ornamental cherry trees rather than trees grown for their fruit. The blossoms are a light pink color and have a sweet, vanilla-like smell.
