Description
Crust punk is a subsection of the punk subculture that emerged in Britain during the 1980s. The music genre of the same name was a heavier, faster evolution of D-Beat bands (namely Discharge) that took in influences from metal, especially from the thrash and sludge subgenres. Notable bands include Amebix, Doom, Nausea, Disfear, Disrupt, and Dystopia. Crust punk fashion distinguished itself from traditional punk fashion by mostly sticking to black and white color palette for the clothes and patches, in addition to being much more dirty and grimy — hence the "crust" in "crust punk." Dreadlocks are another characteristic of the style, though it's not a requirement.
