Description

Blacklist

The blacklist allows members to hide posts they dislike, or otherwise object to, by entering the appropriate tags into a list.
Just like with doing searches, it is important to remember that if a tag is more than one word, use an underscore ( _ ) in place of the space. For instance, use "{{western_dragon}}", not "{{western dragon}}". The first gives you the western_dragon species; the second gives you any dragon in a western setting.
You can edit your blacklist by going to "Account":/users/home -> "Settings":/users/1/edit.
Please, keep in mind that complaining about post contents instead of blacklisting it is against the site rules.
Important!
If you are having trouble getting an image blacklisted, please make sure that it is tagged correctly.
if it is not, consider adding the appropriate tags yourself.
Did your blacklist suddenly stop working?
Check that you did not accidentally hit the quick toggle.
The blacklist works similar to the search.
In fact, you can consider every line in your blacklist to be an individual search, the results of which are going to be filtered out.

↑ Default and Global Blacklists [#Default]

When you are not logged in, the following tag combinations are blacklisted by default:
# Violence
# ABDL
young -rating:s
diaper -rating:s
# Fetishrealistic_feral rating:e
# Controversial
You may edit that blacklist at any time by going to the "posts page":/posts and clicking on "Blacklist" in the subheader.
Important!
Please keep in mind that unless you are logged in, any posts containing the tag `young` and a rating other than Safe will not be displayed regardless of changes to your blacklist.

↑ One tag per line [#Simple]

The simplest blacklist has all tags on separate lines.
For example:

This approach will hide all images with the entered tags.
ALL male images, ALL images with an anus, ALL intersex images.
If even one of these tags is on an image, it will not display for you. Use this method for hiding grand categories of images that you don't want to see.

↑ Combined Tags [#Combined]

Just as with searches, tags in the blacklist can be combined by entering them on the same line, separated by a space.
Each line is regarded separately, images with ALL the tags on a given line will be hidden, but each line will be taken individually.
For example:
female fox nude
herm wolf anal_penetration
In the first example, all images involving nudity, females AND foxes will not be displayed for you.
Presumably, that line would used if you don't want to see naked female foxes β€” however, be aware that if there's a naked male fox with a female skunk, that image may also be hidden.
For the second example, any images involving herms, wolves AND anal_penetration will be hidden.
However, an image with `female wolf anal_penetration` will still be displayed for you.
This approach is best used for more specific examples then those shown.
A more commonly used combined blacklist entry is male solo, or female solo. These hide all 'pin up' pictures of a member of a given gender.
This can also be used if you dislike how a specific artist draws a species, or if you don't want to see their explicit artwork (see below for more on explicit and non-explicit artwork).

↑ Tag Operators [#Operators]

Just like with a search, you may use the `-` and `~` operators in the blacklist.
However, keep in mind that the blacklist is subtracted from the search – that means that tags prefixed with a `-` suggests that you want to see that content.
-female
This, for example, ensures that any picture NOT tagged with 'female' will not display.
This is more useful than blacklisting 'male' if you don't mind seeing pictures of males, as long as there are females in the image.
pokΓ©mon -pikachu
This example would remove ALL pokΓ©mon images from view, UNLESS pikachu is also tagged.
This is useful if you only like one specific type of something.
fox -wolf -lion
This one is a bit more complicated: this would hide all fox images that both do not have wolves and do not have lions.
So, a picture of fox alone, or with only a fox and a bear/goat/horse/etc. would be hidden, but a fox and a lion, or a fox and a wolf would not.
~wolf ~lion
This would blacklist posts that have either a wolf or a lion.
-fox ~wolf ~lion
This would hide all posts that do not have a fox and have either a wolf or a lion.
male ~wolf ~lion -fox
Finally, this would hide all posts that have a male character and either a wolf or a lion, unless the post also has a fox.

↑ Ratings [#Ratings]

Full article: e621:ratings.
Every image on e621 has a rating.
 • rating:explicit - Exposed genitals (penis, pussy etc.), exposed anus, sex acts, high amounts of violence/gore, scat/watersports, other heavy fetish content.
 • rating:safe - Posts that can be viewed in public without much uproar: no genitals, no sexual overtones, no realistic violence.
 • rating:questionable - Everything in between, such as topless females and suggestive poses.
If desired, you can blacklist whole ratings categories if you wish to never see anything of that nature. For example, to hide all explicit artwork, enter rating:explicit into your blacklist.
Additionally, you can use ratings with the other methods listed on this page:
rating:explicit female
Hide all explicit images with females in them.
rating:explicit solo male
Hide all explicit images that only have a single male in them, but allow both explicit male and explicit solo.

↑ Specific Posts [#Specific]

In some cases, you may find that you like most images in some tags, but that there are one or two specific images that displease you.
It may be a character that is poorly drawn, or a poor work by a favored artist, or simply an image with such generic tags that blacklisting them would blacklist many other images you do not want blacklisted.
Or you may wish to reduce clutter and the length of your blacklist by blacklisting specific images instead.
This is achieved by finding the post ID number, which can be found either in the URL of the post or on the left hand side under "Information." This number can be used in your blacklist as follows:
id:1000
id:12345
This will hide post 1000 and post 12345 from your search.

↑ Specific Users [#Users]

In other cases you may find that you dislike everything that a specific user uploads. Some people upload many different types of images, while others upload according to a theme. Some users are not as picky as others regarding their uploads. If you find that you dislike the majority of a user's uploads, and wish that you could not see any uploads from them at all, you can blacklist specific users:
username:ilovegoreandblood
username:mangafanatic
username:bobmcfurryson
To ensure this persists between name changes, you can blacklist their id instead of their username. To get a user's id, go to their profile, and copy the numbers after "<https://e621.net/users/>"
userid:1234
userid:76243
userid:1438722
In doing so, you will see none of the uploads that user posts.
[section=Alternative Syntax][#UserSyntax]You can also achieve this effect by using the `user` metatag, which behaves "the same as when searching posts":[/help/cheatsheet#usermetatags]. This is not recommended; use `userid` or `username` instead.
Blacklisting Users Themselves[#BlacklistUsers]
In addition, on your "Settings":/users/0/edit page there is a checkbox reading "Blacklist users", just below the "Blacklisted tags" textbox.
Checking this will effectively hide a user from you entirely, except in the event that someone replies to text they've said, and quotes their text.
h4. Note
To blacklist a user, they must be the only tag on their line.
For example, the line `userid:1234 ~gore ~blood` will only (conditionally) blacklist this user's uploads, while `userid:1234` will blacklist this user as described above.
If you'd like to blacklist a user's uploads without blacklisting their comments, DMails, etc., you can use the `uploader` metatag instead (which behaves like the `user` metatag):
uploader:ilovegoreandblood
uploader:!1234
uploader:mangafanatic
uploader:!76243
uploader:bobmcfurryson
uploader:!1438722
↑ Supported Metatags [#Metatags]

"Equality" indicates an exact match: `score:100`.
"Comparison" is relative: `score:>100`.
"Range" supports a range of values: `score:50..100`.
[sup]1[/sup] Analogous to the search metatag; only valid values are `flagged`, `pending`, & `deleted`.
[sup]2[/sup] `filesize` accepts both purely numerical values, or ones followed by `kb` or `mb`.
[sup]3[/sup] `fav:me` can only refer to the user's favorites.
[sup]4[/sup] `user` is not recommended; use `userid` or `username` instead.
[sup]5[/sup] When using these modes, `userid` will only blacklist a user's uploads, & not the user themselves (see here); you must blacklist that specific id.
↑ Comments [#Comments]

If you're having trouble keeping your blacklist organized, or you'd like to temporarily remove something from your blacklist without fully removing it, you can make the blacklist ignore a line by adding `#` to the start of the line. For example, for the following blacklist, `# Body Parts` and `# intersex` would be ignored, so only `male` and `anus` would be blacklisted.
# intersex
# Body Parts
↑ Blacklist Quick Toggles [#Toggle]

On most pages where post thumbnails are displayed, there are quick toggles to easily disable and enable any (or all) filters in your blacklist.
The toggles are located directly below search bar in a section labeled "Blacklisted (x)".
To disable all entries at once simply click the "Disable all".
To enable all entries again click "Re-enable all".
To enable or disable individual entries click the "Blacklisted(x)" header and then the entry you'd like to toggle.
The site remembers which specific filters you disabled between page loads.
