DText
DText is the name for e621's custom text formatting language. It's a mishmash of several markdown languages including Textile, MediaWiki, BBCode, and Snudown.

Some link formats can have custom titles appended to them. [#CustomTitles]
ā Post Thumbnails [#PostThumbnails]
ā Block Formatting [#BlockFormatting]
These tags create block-level content. That is, they are not inline like the ones under Basic formatting. ā Quote [#Quote]
[code]
[quote]Please quote me![/quote]
I'm quoting you!
[/code]
[quote]Please quote me![/quote]
I'm quoting you!
[quote=#f2ac08]h6. Note
You may have noticed the colored bar to the left of the quote. That is the default color of quote blocks, but you can change it using the same rules as the `color` tag described here.
[code]
[quote=red]Eye-catching, isn't it?[/quote]
[/code]
[quote=red]Eye-catching, isn't it?[/quote]
[/quote] ā Code [#Code]
Code blocks render characters within blocks of monospaced text that are placed between `` and ``. Thus, `std::cout << "Hello, world!\n";` results in:
std::cout << "Hello, World!";
Note: Because of how block-level tags are parsed, newlines may not show up correctly if there is DText inside them. For ways to get around this, see Escaping DText. ā Header [#Header]

ā List [#List]
Create lists by prepending each item with a *. Use multiple *s for nested lists
[code]
[/code]
ā Section [#Section]
Sections are collapsible boxes used for condensing large amounts of text. Like quote tags they can accept any DText (except headers).
Note that page anchors won't work inside collapsed sections.
[code]
[section]Pretend this is a really large block of text.[/section]
[section=Some Title]This one has a title.[/section]
[section,expanded=Title]This is expanded by default.[/section]

[/table]
There is an alternate format (the ltable) that disallows the use of the `|` character in the cells.
[quote]h6. Note
To properly render this preview, the `l` in `ltable` has been replaced with `I`; the surrounding tag must be `ltable`, not `Itable`.[/quote]
[code]
[Itable]
Header A| Header B | Header C
Cell A1 | Cell B1 | Cell C1
Cell A2 | Cell B2 | Cell C2
Cell A3 | Cell B3 | Cell C3

ā Other [#Other]
ā Escaping DText [#EscapingDText]
Use backticks or #Code tags to escape DText. To escape a literal backtick (`\``), use a single backslash (e.g. `JavaScript uses the \\` character to delimit a templated string literal.` will be shown as "JavaScript uses the \` character to delimit a templated string literal."). ā Page Anchors [#Anchors]
Anchors are markers that tell your browser to jump to a specific place on the page.
Anchor names must be spelled using only letters, numbers, and underscores.
