Description

A tag for dinosaurs possessing feathers, whether they be a crest of feathers upon their heads, tail feathers, winged claws/arms and/or completely feathered bodies, feathered wings, or all of the above.
Originally, dinosaurs with feathers were unheard of in the scientific field. However, during a historical period known as the "dinosaur renaissance" scientists realized dinosaur's relationship with birds, and eventually came to the conclusion that birds are the modern descendants of theropods.
With this now being relatively common knowledge, more reconstructions and imaginings of dinosaurs have been including dinosaurs with feathers. Fossils have also been discovered with evidence of feathered dinosaurs, one of the most well known being the fossils of archaeopteryx.

Not to be confused with

  • avians or birds; while birds technically can be considered the modern version of feathered dinosaurs, for tagging purposes they are not referred to as such.
