Description

Similar to spats gaiters are longer covering the lower pant legs. It protects more of the leg from friction, mud and snow entering the boots, thorns, and spikes. Gaiters were common for horse riding and in numerous armed forces as a more convenient alternative to puttees from the 19th century until the late 20th century.
