Description
The Kig-Yar are an alien species with an appearance that resembles humanoid reptiles or avians. They feature in the Halo franchise as a combatant of the Covenant forces.
Kig-Yar as a species can be grouped into the three distinct subspecies: (from the left) Ruuhtian, T'vaoan, and Ibie'shan.
The species is generally referred to as Jackals. The T'vaoans were known as Skirmishers because the same combat role was filled exclusively by their species. Later, this role would be assumed by the most physically adept Ruuhtian females.
