Description

A leaf nose (or nose-leaf) is the type of nose seen in bats. It is an upturned nose with a prominent upper extrusion, giving it the appearance of a leaf or spade. The shape assists bats with their echolocation, and as such is absent on bats that rely on other senses, such as flying foxes.
