Loonatics Unleashed is an American action-comedy animated television series produced by Warner Bros. Animation, which ran on Kids' WB for two seasons from 2005 to 2007.
It is based on the Looney Tunes series of short theatrical cartoons, and is meant to be a mixture of its irreverent style of humor and a modern action animated series, with the characters designed for the latter direction. Unlike most Looney Tunes spin-offs, Loonatics Unleashed has a darker tone and takes place in a post-apocalyptic setting, as well as having multiple minor story arcs. The series was met with mixed to negative reviews.
The initial concept designs for the characters, which was characterized as much edgier than how they appear in the series, were met with a massive wave of criticism by fans, with petitions aiming to have their designs changed. Sam Register, who later became the president of Warner Bros. Animation, has considered the character designs as "a reminder of what not to do."
Due to the show's reputation, the Looney Tunes franchise would not recieve a new TV series until The Looney Tunes Show in 2011, four years after Loonatics Unleashes ended. The series has since been lampooned in other media, including episodes of New Looney Tunes and the Animaniacs reboot, and a dedicated episode of Teen Titans Go!
Main characters
- Ace Bunny - The descendant of Bugs Bunny and leader of the team. He was originally a stuntman with a mastery in martial arts, and given the power of heat vision. He is voiced by Charlie Schlatter.
- Danger Duck - Originally known as just Duck, he serves as the group's comedy relief. He is the descendant of Daffy Duck and a former pool boy. He was given the ability to teleport short distances by quacking, and conjure flaming eggs that contain a random liquid substance. He is voiced by Jason Marsden.
- Lexi Bunny - The descendant of Lola Bunny. Formerly a cheerleader, she was granted the power of supersonic hearing, telepathy, and psychokinesis. She is voiced by Jessica Sonya DiCicco.
- Rev Runner - The descendant of the Road Runner. Formerly a delivery boy, he was granted the power of super speed and flight, although he already had super speed even before he recieved his powers. He is voiced by Rob Paulson.
- Slam Tasmanian - The descendant of the Tasmanian Devil. He was formerly a professional wrestler before gaining super strength and the ability to create actual tornados by spinning. He is the muscle of the group. His voice was provided by Kevin Michael Richardson.
- Tech E. Coyote - The descendant of Wile E. Coyote, he is a former scientist and the brains of the operation. He was granted the power of ferro-kinesis and the ability to regenerate from any physical injuries. He is also voiced by Kevin Michael Richardson.
