Pyroar (Japanese: カエンジシ Kaenjishi) is a dual-type Fire/Normal pokémon introduced in Generation VI.
It evolves from Litleo starting at level 35.
Pyroar can Mega Evolve into Mega Pyroar using the Pyroarite. Mega Pyroar was introduced in pokémon Legends: Z-A.
Unlike regular Pyroar, there is no gender difference between male and female Mega Pyroar, as the aspects of both male and female Pyroar are apparent, and have seemingly been merged. As Mega Pyroar, its mane becomes massively enlarged, flaring out in multiple directions from its head. Each tuft of its mane is red with a yellow stripe.
From what was inherited from male Pyroar, the bottom portion of its mane retains the Daimonji symbol (大), while the top of its mane rests wholly above its head and forms the Japanese Kanji symbol Hí (火; Fire). Given the visual similarity between the two symbols, these two symbols appear to visually resemble the Kanji symbol Honō/En (炎), which means "flame" or "blaze"—and is often used to represent passion, intense energy, or a large raging fire. From what was inherited from female Pyroar, the topmost tuft of Mega Pyroar's mane extends along the back, reaching the tail. Other visual changes include red markings on its cheeks, the fur on its thighs flaring up higher, the fur on its feet receding slightly, and the tip of its tail taking on a more flame-like shape.
The energy of Mega Evolution has increased the temperature of Pyroar's fiery breath from 10,000 degrees Fahrenheit (6,000 degrees Celsius) to 18,000 degrees Fahrenheit (10,000 degrees Celsius). In battle, it protects its allies by swinging around its enlarged mane at opponents. Mega Pyroar can manipulate its top mane hair for swinging attacks or unleashing flame moves.
Mega Pyroar is the only known pokémon that can have Fire Mane as an Ability.
