A raised platform one stands on. Commonly depicted as a tri-level podium used at the end of a competition, with the three final competitors (1st/2nd/3rd place) standing on levels of varying heights to represent their placing.
"Podium" is often used incorrectly to describe a lectern, as someone on a podium may be standing behind a lectern.
