The San Jose Sharks are a professional hockey team sanctioned by the NHL. They were founded at the beginning of the 1990-91 season, on May 9 1990, by the original owners of the Minnesota North Stars who purchased an expansion team in the San Francisco Bay Area. Their current coach is Ryan Warsofsky and as of now, they have no captain. Their home arena is the SAP Center, referred to by fans as the "Shark Tank". Their team colors are teal, black, and white.
They have no Stanley Cups, however, they have made one Finals appearance in the 2015-16 season where they were beat by a Pittsburgh Penguins team that would beat them in six games, which would be one of two consecutive cups that decade.
In their early years, the Sharks played in the Cow Palace, which is an arena located in Daly City, California. They sold out every game there, as well as record the franchise firsts including the first goal, loss, win, and shutout, as well as their reveal of their mascot S.J. Sharkie.
