Description
When a character who is assertive or taking the lead (the "top") acts with the primary intention of providing pleasure to their partner(s), rather than their own pleasure. Or in other words, a service top performs a usually dominant act as a form of submission.
The term "service top" is related to BDSM, particularly in the D/S aspect. It's generally assumed that a service top needs to be penetrating, but this isn't actually required. It's more about the mindset of the participants.
Not to be confused with
- the concept of on_top/bottom; these tags are concerned with position rather than dominance and penetration.
- gentle_dominant, while similar, is more a dominant treating their submissive kindly, while a service top is an ultimately submissive character taking charge as a way of serving their partner.
- power_bottom, a dominant bottom. A power bottom can be in charge while also serving their partner like a service top, but the power bottom is ultimately receiving pleasure from acting in more submissive roles, and doesn't necessarily prioritize their top's pleasure even when doing the servicing.
