Shelgon (Japanese: コモルー Komoruu) is a Dragon-type pokémon introduced in Generation III.
It evolves from Bagon starting at level 30 and evolves into Salamence starting at level 50.
Shelgon is a quadrupedal pokémon that resembles a pupal stage. Most of its body is covered in a shell of six white plates, made from the same substance as bone. The three top plates each feature a ridge running along their lengths. The shell leaves two hexagonal openings that show small parts of its gray body: one at the back of its body, and the other at its front, where its yellow eyes can be seen. Protruding from between the bottom plates are four stubby gray legs with short red stripes on the inner surfaces.
This Pokémon's shell is hard enough to repel most forms of attack, but its sheer weight makes Shelgon's movements extremely sluggish. Once it's ready to evolve, the shell immediately peels off. Barely able to move, Shelgon usually hides away in a cavern, awaiting Evolution. Underneath the shell, this pokémon's cells are in the midst of rapid change, preparing a new body for it. During this time, Shelgon is never seen eating or drinking, ignoring its hunger entirely. How it survives this ordeal is a mystery, but it is thought that Shelgon relies on stored energy to fuel its transformation, clinging to its cherished dream of flight all the while. As mentioned in Sleep Style Dex, Shelgon is known to sleep as it stores up energy for the day it evolves into Salamence. Shelgon has witnessed sleeping with legs out, a sign that it is dreaming of flying through the expansive sky. Shelgon has four different sleep styles: Flying Dream Sleep, Stretching Sleep, Dream-Sprint Sleep, and Atop-Belly Sleep.
