Description
a holy or sacred place, which is dedicated to a specific deity, ancestor, hero, martyr, saint, daemon or similar figure of awe and respect, at which they are venerated or worshipped.
Is also applied to the signature red gate-like shrines found in japan, also known as torii. Not all torii are necessarily shrines, however.
Statues can also be considered shrines if it applies to the definition given above.
