Description

The Super Mushroom is a red mushroom found in the Mario Brothers series. The mushroom more often than not serves as a powerup in most of its portrayals, allowing Mario to grow into his larger form and break bricks. The Super Mushroom in itself is styled after the real life fly agaric, a mushroom common in popular culture, and shares its red with white spots color scheme.

After the first game's Super Mushrooms and 1-up Mushrooms, mushrooms became a common and iconic powerup in the series, appearing in new forms with differing effects in later installments.
