The Amazing Story of the Phantom Cat is an animated short that I wrote, animated, and scored between December 2022 and April 2023. It was my first experience making a 2D animated short, so it was a cascade of challenges that turned into countless learning experiences.

I made the animation using Krita. Hours and hours of drawing, erasing, and drawing all over again. I had already composed the music long before, but I arranged it specifically for this short, trying to understand the logic of timing and repetition in animation, using LMMS.

I was lucky enough to have some great ghostly friends—José Haidar, Marcelo Cáceres, Agustina Conti, and Daniela Barrionuevo—lend their voices to the narration and characters.

I hope you enjoy The Amazing Story of the Phantom Cat!

Beyond the joy of bringing this project to life, this short film allowed me to connect with incredible people from the world of animation, mainly through its participation in film festivals.

In October 2023, The Amazing Story of the Phantom Cat was screened at FAN – Festival Audiovisual de Neuquén (Argentina), as part of the Official Selection of National Animated Shorts. In December 2023, it was also part of the Official Selection of Animated Shorts at AnimaVerso Festival, held in Florianópolis (Brazil). In January 2024, it was screened in Santa Cruz de la Sierra (Bolivia) as part of EDO 2024, and in May of the same year, it was screened at Anima Latina in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

I never imagined the cat would get to visit so many places.
